Biscuit. Recipe for cooking favorite dessert of Queen Victoria

Few people know that the biscuit, the recipe of which has been known for many centuries, has its own history. The first mention of it dates back to the 15th century. Records of the recipe were found in the seagoing ships' journals in England. Before long swimming in the hold of the ship loaded enough dried biscuit. The fact that he did not contain butter, allowed him to store it for a long time. Biscuit was very nutritious and, at the same time, had a small volume. This made it useful for most travelers.

But it was not only useful, but also very tasty product. And this, as you might guess, could not leave gourmets out of attention. Apparently, during the voyage one of them tried this dish and concluded that he had a place in the royal palace, and not in the galley. Thus, the biscuit "was reborn" at the court of Queen Victoria. But it was not just a dried dough. Biscuit turned into fresh cakes with jam layers.

Some time later the biscuit, the recipe of which came out "to the people," began to travel around the world. "Victorian" biscuit cakes spread in England, France, and soon in the English colonies.

In our time, the desired dish in any house was a biscuit. The recipe is usually different. After all, each hostess wants to add to this dish its "zest".

A delicious and light dessert is a honey biscuit. The recipe for its preparation is very simple. Whipped proteins make dessert high, and sour cream imparts juiciness and tenderness.

If you are preparing a biscuit for the first time, it is better to write down the recipe (or print it) and carefully follow each item. We need such ingredients for the preparation of honey biscuit:

  • Honey - 3 tablespoons;
  • Eggs - 4 pieces;
  • Sugar - 1 item;
  • Flour - 1,5 tbsp.

For impregnation:

  • Sour cream - 0,5 kg;
  • Sugar - 4 tbsp.

Preparation

  • Separate the proteins and yolks. In the whipping dishes, we place proteins. It is recommended to adjust the mixer for small turns. Whisk the mass until a white gentle foam.
  • Then gradually add sugar and, without stopping, continue to whisk until we get a thick protein foam.
  • In this mass we add egg yolks. And again, whisk thoroughly. Next we add honey. If it is thick, then it must be melted beforehand. Beat. Add the necessary amount of flour to the resulting mass.
  • We cover the form with parchment paper and grease with butter. Now the dough can be put on the form. In the oven, preheated in advance to 180 degrees, bake our next cake for about 40 minutes.
  • When he gets a good blush, this will mean that he's ready to biscuit. But still it is better to check its readiness. The easiest way to do this is with a toothpick. You need to pierce the cake in the middle and pull it out. If the wand is dry, then the dish is ready. And if the dough sticks to it, then it is necessary to let it brew.
  • When the biscuit cools down, cut it into three pieces.
  • Now we turn to the preparation of the cream. In the whisking dishes, we place sour cream and sugar. Stir 2-3 minutes. And we make sure that the sour cream does not turn into butter.
  • Further we grease with a cream all parts and we unite in one. 5-6 hours will go to impregnate the dish.

With a minimum of costs for products and time, a delicious biscuit is obtained. The recipe, of course, can be slightly varied by dressing dessert with finely chopped fruits or grated chocolate.
