One of the most serious and hard-to-solve problems for rural residents is the roads, especially in spring time in high water. An ideal alternative to any vehicles in such conditions are air-cushioned ATVs.

What is a similar transport?

An air cushion ship is a special vehicle, based on the dynamics of which lies the air flow that is pumped under the bottom, which allows it to move along any surface, both liquid and solid.

The main advantage of this transport is its high speed. In addition, its navigation period is not limited to environmental conditions - it is possible to travel on such cross-country vehicles both in winter and in summer. Another plus is the ability to overcome obstacles no more than a meter in height.

By the same disadvantages include a small number of passengers who are able to transport all-terrain vehicles on an air cushion, and a fairly high fuel consumption. This is explained by the increased power of the engine, aimed at creating a flow of air under the bottom. The small particles in the cushion can cause static electricity.

Advantages and disadvantages of ATVs

It is difficult to say exactly what it is worth starting to choose such a model of a ship, because everything depends on the personal preferences of the future owner and his plans for the purchased transport. Among the huge number of characteristics and parameters, air-cushioned all-terrain vehicles have advantages and disadvantages, many of which are known either by professionals or manufacturers, but not by ordinary users.

One of the drawbacks of such ships is their frequent stubbornness: at a temperature of -18 degrees they may refuse to start. The reason for this is the condensate in the power plant. In order to increase wear resistance and strength, all-terrain vehicles on the economy class air cushion have steel inserts in the bottom, which their costly analogues do not have. A sufficiently powerful engine can not pull up the transport on a fairly small shore with a gradient of a couple of degrees.

Large ships almost completely ignore the airborne wave, which makes it possible to use them even at sea. Principle of operation

The functioning of the air cushion is quite simple and largely based on a course of physics familiar from school times. The principle of operation is raising the boat above the ground and leveling the frictional force. This process is called "exit to the pillow" and is a temporary characteristic. For small ships it takes about 10-20 seconds, large ones take about a half a minute. Industrial all-terrain vehicles inject air for several minutes, in order to increase the pressure to the desired level. After reaching the necessary mark, you can start moving.

On small ships capable of carrying between 2 and 4 passengers, air is forced into the pillow by means of banal air intakes from the traction motor. The ride starts almost immediately after the pressure is set, which is not always convenient, because the rear gear for all-terrain vehicles of the junior and middle class is missing. On larger all-terrain vehicles for 6-12 people, this disadvantage is compensated by a second engine that controls only air pressure in the cushion.

Homemade ATVs

Today you can meet many folk craftsmen who create this technique on their own. The hovercraft on the air cushion is assembled on the basis of another transport - for example, the motorcycle "Dnepr". A screw is installed on the engine, which pumps air under the bottom, covered by a cuff of leatherette, resistant to negative temperatures. The same motor carries out the movement of the vessel forward.

Such an all-terrain vehicle on the air cushion with its own hands is created with good technical characteristics - for example, the speed of its movement is about 70 km / h. In fact, such transportation is the most profitable for independent production, since it does not require the creation of complex drawings and running gear, differing at the same maximum level of patency.
