Arrived at Hainan airport opens the gate to the earthly paradise

Located on a relatively small island in the South China Sea, Hainan is the southernmost and smallest province of the People 's Republic of China. The area of the island is about 35 thousand km 2 , the area of its water area - about 2 million km 2 .

The name of the island is translated as "south of the sea". This name Hainan received because it is located south of the southernmost mainland point of China. This island is called the "island of coconuts". Another unofficial name of Hainan is "an island of longevity," since there are about twenty thousand people living there who are over 90 years old.

Famous for its excellent beaches and clear waters, Hainan is the most popular resort on a world scale. Hainan can only be reached by sea or by air, and therefore the airport in Hainan Island, literally, is the window to the world. There are two airports here: Haikou Meilan - in the north and Sanya Phoenix - in the south.

Hainan Province: Haikou Meilan Airport

Opened in 1999, Haikou Meilan became the largest international airport and the largest on the island. It is one of the busiest airports in China. The busy air routes connect Haikou Meilan with Gongong, Malaysia, Japan. It is designed to serve up to 9.3 million passengers per year. Arrived at Hainan Haikou Airport, Meilan is simply amazing by its appearance. Stylized for the habitation of local residents, the terminal building is surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. There are many restaurants on the airport that offer traditional Chinese dishes to their visitors. The command and control tower, from which air traffic control is administered, is considered to be the highest in Asia and reaches a height of 70 m.

To the nearby town of Sanya, you can take a high-speed train from the Meilan railway station , which you can access directly from the airport. The center of Haikou is easily accessible by road (bus or taxi).

Hainan Province: Sanya Felix Airport

Only slightly inferior to Haikou Meilan in size, Sanya Felix International Airport is located amidst picturesque local nature, 15 km northwest of the resort town of Sanya. It was opened in 1994, serves 168 regular flights, 130 of which are domestic, 35 are international and 3 are regional. The second largest airport on the island of Hainan, however, is ranked 17th in terms of capacity among Chinese airports. A competently constructed and comfortable building accommodates more than thirty shops, as well as about a dozen food outlets. From the airport to the city you can reach by bus or taxi.

Arriving in Hainan to Russians and residents of a number of other countries, a visa can be issued directly upon arrival. How is the airport called Hainan, where can this be done? A visa can be issued at any of the airports, provided that the passenger flew to the island without a transfer in mainland China for a period of not more than 15 days. For Russian citizens who have issued their tour through a travel agency cooperating with a Chinese tour operator, the visa-free regime is 21 days (for a group of more than two people). At the same time, passport control is carried out at Sanya airport according to the visa-free lists provided by the host country in advance.
