Anthelmintic preparation 'Vermox': instruction for use

"Vermox" refers to highly effective anthelminthic drugs, the instruction for its use recommends it both for the treatment of nematodes and the withdrawal of flat worms.

The main active ingredient here is mebendazole, the principle of which is in violation of the formation of tubulin, necessary for the life of parasites, as a result of which all kinds of metabolism in the body of worms are violated, and in a couple of days they die. This drug is most effective in getting rid of enterobiosis (pinworm) and trichocephalosis (vagus head). However, the drug can also be used in ascariasis, mixed helminthiasis, taeniosis and other types of parasites.

"Vermox" instruction prohibits for children under 2 years of age. Also, do not drink it to pregnant and lactating mothers, people who have ulcerative colitis, liver failure and Crohn's disease. Hypersensitivity to the components that make up the drug is another contraindication to its use.

Since a large range of anthelmintics is currently available, many people think that it is better to choose, for example, "Decaris" or "Vermox". It must be said that, despite the externally identical effect, the mechanisms of action are different, therefore some helminths are more sensitive to one of these medicines, showing resistance to another.

So, to get rid of the pinworm "Vermox" instruction recommends taking once. In order to withdraw other types of round parasites, the course of treatment should last 3-4 days, while the drug is used twice a day. Sometimes for prevention, you can repeat the medication in two weeks. Periodically it is necessary to take the analysis of a feces and soskob from an anal area. Effective treatment is considered if helminths and their eggs are absent for at least 7 days.

There are cases when side effects are observed even after a single application. There may be symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions.

If we talk about what is better "Vermox" or "Pirantel", which is quite popular, it is impossible to answer unambiguously. As well as from other antiparasitic drugs, they differ from each other in action and indications for use. So, the latter is allowed to use in children from 6 months already, so pediatricians often prefer to prescribe it. However, "Vermox" has a stronger effect, especially with enterobiasis. To understand which preparation is best to use, only the specialist will help, most often, after obtaining an analysis determining the type of parasites with which the patient is infected.

When taking a medicine, it is better to temporarily refrain from driving a car, working in dangerous conditions with moving machinery. In case of an overdose, pain, nausea, diarrhea and other unpleasant symptoms may occur. In such a situation it is recommended to drink activated charcoal, try to clean the stomach, rinsing it or causing vomiting, go to a medical institution, describing the symptoms that have appeared. It is necessary to avoid the appointment of the drug simultaneously with the intake of lipophilic substances. In patients with diabetes mellitus, this anthelmintic agent can reduce the need for insulin. Before starting to use "Vermox", the instruction should be studied very carefully.

You can take the drug for preventive deworming. This is especially true in the autumn before frosts and in the spring. To do this, it is sufficient to take the tablet once per 100 mg, and after 2-3 weeks to repeat the procedure. Personal hygiene in combination with this medicine will help protect the body from parasites.
