Adenoma of the prostate is a threat to male power

There are diseases that affect only the strong half of humanity. These include prostate adenoma - a benign tumor of the prostate. This body is responsible for the production of hormones and hormone-like substances. The enlargement of the prostate in size with the development of the tumor leads to a violation of the function of urination, as well as sexual function.

How does the disease manifest itself? Benign tumor, as a rule, hides in the organ, without causing any pain or discomfort. Usually it becomes clear that something is wrong when the tumor formation breaks down any function of the body. Adenoma, as already noted, affects the function of excretion of urine. There is no correspondence between the tumor size and the degree of its clinical manifestations. Symptomatic of adenoma is determined by the way in which the tumor grows. For example, frequent night urges to urinate are associated with the closure of the lumen of the urethra by tumor formation and its overhang into the bladder. In the future, to empty the bubble, the person is forced to push. In severe cases, acute urinary retention may develop . This problem is solved in a hospital with the help of a catheter, which collects the accumulated urine. Due to the weakening of the muscles of the bladder, the patient may suffer incontinence, which may be episodic or go into a chronic condition. If the bladder is not fully emptied, the risk of developing an ascending infection that affects the kidneys is high. A consequence of this may be renal failure. These symptoms are typical for severe, neglected cases. For many years, prostate adenoma does not manifest itself, except for frequent nighttime urination. And here the man, especially who is more than 40 years old, should be alerted and at the first discomfort to make an ultrasound examination (ultrasound) of the prostate. Needless to say, ultrasound of the prostate to any representative of the stronger sex over 40 years should be done regularly for preventive purposes. Patients with an enlarged gland need to pass a blood test for PSA (an indicator of the transition of the process into a malignant form).

How to treat prostate adenoma? If there are no bright clinical manifestations, conservative treatment of adenoma is performed. If there is a rapid growth of the tumor, the doctor can offer surgery even in the first months. Delay here if there is no death like, then certainly serious harm to health for sure. The operative method is used for radical disposal of a tumor. However, the patient should be healthy enough to endure this long and bloody operation. Therefore, it is best to tolerate such operations young men who do not have a large number of other concomitant diseases. If there are serious contraindications to surgical intervention, the only way out is a catheter and a pouch for urine.

Depending on the age and health condition of the patient, various types of operations to remove adenoma of the prostate are carried out. If the patient is recognized as capable of suffering a complex and prolonged hollow intervention ("safe"), then a one-stage operation is performed. Inflammation of the bladder is a contraindication to the operation, because it is through him that the surgeon gets access to the prostate gland affected by adenoma. In this case, before the operation, a course of antibiotic therapy is conducted.

In some cases, the operation is divided into two stages. Apply this method quite rarely and in relation to weakened, elderly patients.

Among other surgical methods, for example, an operation to remove adenoma, carried out through the urethra, is widespread.
