About what you can not eat when breastfeeding

Basic rules for feeding a mother breastfeeding

Loss of blood during childbirth, a decrease in hemoglobin, chronic lack of sleep, fear for the life of the baby and the constant care of it are directly depleting the woman, as a result, quite often there are cases when young mothers are subjected to postpartum depression. Restoring the strength of the body and reduce stress will help the proper nutrition of the mother during breastfeeding. In principle, eating should be the same as during pregnancy. However, it will not be superfluous to recall the basic rules.

1. Use only freshly prepared, not warmed food.

2. Prefer the fresh vegetables and fruits.

3. Strictly refuse strong alcoholic beverages.

4. Take food at least 5-6 times a day.

5. Because what mom ate, appears in breast milk for 2-4 hours, special attention should be paid to the quality of the products.

6. Refuse from food, the use of which has already caused an allergic reaction.

7. For the first six months, forget about food, which are included in the list of "what can not be eaten with breastfeeding."

8. The daily ration of the nursing mother should be as wide as possible.

Eat for health!

Too strict diet not only deprives mom of the strength, but can also harm the baby, because he must gradually get used to all sorts of food. Among the things that can be eaten with breastfeeding, especially important are:

- dairy and sour-milk products, including yoghurts, fermented milk, kefir, low-fat cottage cheese;

- lean meat (it is better to give preference to veal, turkey, chicken);

- white varieties of fish;

- Various cereals;

- bread in small quantities;

- Galette cookies, marshmallows;

- apples, bananas, blackberries, zucchini, potatoes (the first 3 months one-time intake of these products is reduced to 100 grams per day, but you can gradually increase the amount), carrots and some other berries, fruits, vegetables that do not cause allergies and digestive problems.

Pleasant news for sweet tooth: halva and white chocolate do not belong to the category "what can not be eaten with breastfeeding". This delicious mum can afford to eat, but ... from the third month of the baby's life.

The better not to abuse?

Unfortunately, not all tasty foods are equally useful for a child. Some of them can cause colic (cabbage), loose stool (blueberry) or, conversely, constipation (excessive amount of bread or potatoes). Given this, moms should remember once and for all what can not be eaten while breastfeeding. So, it is not recommended to use:

- smoked products, canned food;

- food allergens: dark chocolate, honey, red fish and caviar, peanuts, etc .;

- mayonnaise, ketchup;

- cakes, cakes with creams;

- citrus fruits, strawberries;

- Legumes, grapes, cabbage;

- also it is necessary to limit consumption of eggs, sugar and nuts.

Of course, it is difficult to say unequivocally what can not be eaten during breastfeeding, because every child is individual, and each organism perceives the same products differently. But in the case when my mother ate something that the baby will definitely react badly, it is better to express the milk and drink sorbents.

Drinking a nursing mother

Although there is no direct connection between the amount of water drunk (milk, compote, eaten soups, etc.) and the amount of milk that arrives, it is recommended that the lactating woman consume approximately 1.5 liters of fluid per day. In addition to simple water, you can drink tea from mint, fennel or chamomile. Appropriate will be the reception of black weak tea with milk, as well as compote of dried fruits, black currants, blackberries. Do not drink coffee, compotes of plums, blueberries or cherries. Doctors admit receiving breast-feeding mother of red wine, but not more than 150 ml per day. Naturally, after drinking the drink, you need to express the milk, eat well and take sorbents.
