About "Crystal Turandot": history of the prize, founder, laureates

The first theatrical award "Crystal Turandot" was established in the difficult nineties. Since then, it is given annually. This is one of the most prestigious awards in Russia in the field of theater.

About the Prize

The first presentation of the "Crystal Turandot" took place in 1991. Awarded this award only the capital's projects and artists.

The prize is awarded in seven nominations. Get her recognized as the best at the end of the season, directors, actors, debutants, staging, stage sets. There is also a special prize - For Honor and Dignity. It is received by people who have devoted many years to the service of theatrical art.

Handing "Crystal Turandot" is not just a rewarding ceremony, it's a holiday for everyone who receives this award.

The award is named after the main heroine of the play, which is included in the repertoire of almost all drama theaters in Russia. Jury members are usually artists, musicians, writers and other creative people who are not actors and directors.

History of the award

In 1991, Julia Borisova , People's Artist of the USSR, became the first laureate of the Crystal Turandot. Since 1992, the awards ceremony began to take place in a theatrical form. From 1995 to 2007 the prize was held in the Kuskovo Estate. For many years the jury was Anatoly Pristavkin (writer), Andrei Makarevich (leader of the rock band "Time Machine"), Ekaterina Maksimova (ballerina), Pyotr Todorovsky (film director).

The authors of the first statuette-prize - T. Sazhin (a glass artist) and A. Tsigal (sculptor). In 2000, "Crystal Turandot" was updated. A modern statuette was invented by N. Volikov and T. Novikova.

In 2001, a new list was added to the list of nominations: "For contribution to Moscow's theatrical art". Each year, prizes are given to the winners of various actresses in the image of Princess Turandot. In this role were visited: Nonna Grishaeva, Maria Aronova, Olga Prokofieva, Lisa Boyarska and many others.

In 2003, the awarding ceremony was postponed, as the organizers of Turandot had financial problems.

Since 2007 awards ceremonies have been held in the Tretyakov Gallery. In 2009, the award was presented at the Galina Vishnevskaya Center for Opera Singing. Then the theatrical performance was conducted by Viktor Dobronravov and Maria Aronova. The ceremony was dedicated to the memory of the famous ballerina Catherine Maximova. In 2010, the awarding of laureates took place in the theater "New Opera". And again in the role of Princess Turandot appeared the unique M. Aronova, and her co-host became Michael Policemaco. Maria was the presenter at the awarding ceremony for five consecutive years.

The year 2011 was marked by the fact that the ceremony was held at the Vakhtangov Theater, and the awards were given only in one single nomination - "Theatrical Property". It was a jubilee ceremony. In the image of the Princess Olga Prokofieva came on the stage, and Daniil Spivakovsky became her partner . In the same year, the tradition of holding "Crystal balls" in honor of the laureates was introduced.

In 2013, a new nomination was created - "Best Musical". At the same time, a charitable project was created to support provincial theaters. For the fourth time he received the award directed by Rimas Tuminas.

Founder

Boris Petrovich Belenky is the founder of the award "Crystal Turandot". He created his project in order to support actors in the difficult for them nineties and from the love of art. Boris Petrovich - director, producer and screenwriter, president of the Association of "The Muzy of Freedom."

Already 25 years annually, B. Belenky is the writer and director of all the ceremonies of "Turandot". The award is given only to the most worthy servants of the Melpomene. Winners are selected by a competent jury.

Since 2011, after the award ceremony in honor of the laureates, the "Crystal Ball" is given. This is something between a creative evening and a performance. They pass at the Vakhtangov Theater.

Boris Petrovich is also actively involved in charity. Thanks to him, actions are held for veterans of the stage and circus.
