Appearance of the royal snake

The royal snake (Lampropeltis) refers to a genus of non-poisonous and a family of undifferentiated ones. There are about 14 species of these individuals, which mainly live in North and Central America and Mexico. Another name "Shining Shield" was obtained due to the presence of specific dorsal scales. "Why did you call her royal?" - you ask. She was nicknamed because of the fact that in the wild she eats other kinds of snakes, including poisonous ones. This feature is due to the fact that the royal snake is opposed to the poison of the relatives.

To date, only seven subspecies that belong to the royal family have been well studied. All of them differ not only in color and color, but also in size. The body length can vary from 0.8 m to 1.5-2 m.
