This article will be very useful for those who like to travel. Readers not only learn about the airport Zhulyany, but also get information about its history, directions, service and how to get to it from different parts of Kiev.

Section 1. Urgency of the Question

Recently, more and more travelers, going on vacation, still prefer air travel. And this is not surprising. Nobody wants to spend extra time on the road to the destination, especially if the difference in ticket price is not too significant. For example, from Kiev to Budapest, it turns out, to fly even cheaper than going by bus or, say, a train, which means that the choice is obvious.

As you know, demand creates supply, which is why in the Ukrainian capital, in addition to modern Boryspil, there was a need to pay attention to the older Kiev airport Zhulyany. It was restored, partially reconstructed, and now it actively serves a huge flow of passengers.

Section 2. General description of the object

It should be noted that it is located very well. This is the south-western part of the Ukrainian capital, at a distance of only 8 km from the center. That is, we can assume that it is much more convenient to get to it, cheaper, more intelligible than to the main air gates of Ukraine, which are located outside the city limits.

Kiev ... Zhulyany ... Airport ... Many would like to know where this unusual name originates from. Agree, it is hardly the name of the founder, and something from the history of this letter combination is not immediately recalled.

As it was possible to establish, during the official opening of the air gate this name was given in honor of the name of the whole housing estate, in which they, by the way, are located.

Today the airport has an area of 265 hectares. On its territory is also located 410 repair plant of civil aviation and one of the largest aviation museums in the open air, which presents for review samples of aircraft - both military and civil.

If you take into account the technical side, it is worth noting that the airport in Zhulyany has one runway, the length of which is about 2310 m, and the width is almost 45 m.

Section 3. How to get to the destination

In general, it should be noted that now the airport is located in a place where the traffic intersection is almost ideal, both for a trip on your own vehicles and on a public road.

Travelers should note that trolleybuses No. 22, 80 and 78 and fixed-route taxis Nos. 169, 482, 368, 213, 302, 496, 499 can deliver them to the entrance to Zhuliany airport.

As of today, the fare in the Kiev minibus is 3 UAH, in the trolley - 1.50.

By the way, out-of-town travelers will benefit from information that nearby is also a well-known and highly sought-after railway station Kiev-Volynsky.

According to experienced tourists, in the evening or at night it will be more convenient to call a taxi. Direction "Kiev. Zhulyany (airport) "is very popular, so drivers can easily deliver you in the shortest possible time. There is parking near the terminal.

Section 4. History

These air gates of Ukraine were founded long ago, back in the 1920s near the village of Zhulyany. But at the very beginning the name was completely different. Until the 1940s, he was known as Post-Volynsky. Then they were renamed to the airport at Chokolovka or Kievsky.

Initially, its dimensions were quite modest: the only runway and a small airfield, which were on the outskirts of a tiny even by the standards of the village. Serviced airport Zhulyany only domestic flights.

In 1949 a new air terminal was built, which could take airplanes from different parts of the former USSR. The situation changes in 1960, after the suburb itself was attached to Kiev, and in Borispol a new terminal was built, the small Kiev airport had an official name - Zhulyany airport.

To date, this airport has achieved international status.

Section 5. Situation to date

Currently, the airport serves flights of well-known airlines such as AirOnix, Wizz Air Ukraine, Horse, UTair-Ukraine, Transaero, and Southern Airlines. The airport is equipped with two terminals: A, serving international airlines, and D, intended for domestic airlines.

Terminal A is the largest terminal at the airport, which has a capacity of 320 passengers per hour. It was opened relatively recently - May 17, 2012.

On its territory there is everything necessary for the comfort of departing and newly arrived passengers.

In the terminal building there are registration and baggage claim areas, as well as a recreation area (common and VIP rooms), 3 Duty Free duty free shops are open, 5 bars and 4 restaurants are open, rooms for mother and child are equipped.

On the first floor of Terminal A, namely in the right wing, there is a storage room that operates around the clock.

The terminal is also equipped with a telescopic ladder, to which aircraft like Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and MD82 can dock. Prior to this, passengers were transported to the aircraft or from it by buses.

The site of Zhulyany airport is working properly. On it you can not only get all the necessary information related to the nuances of work, but also book tickets for any, even docking, flight.

Section 6. Traveler Reviews

According to passengers using the airport, of course, you can tell a lot about its comfort and quality of service.

Not surprisingly, most of all travelers liked the fact that the airport has no running and pandemoniums.

Pleasant and helpful staff is always ready to help.

It is also welcome that the interior of the terminal is all new, including toilets. The board with the inscription "Zhulyany Airport. Schedule "is in a prominent place.

In general, the room makes a good impression. Everything is cozy and clean everywhere. The only drawback, perhaps, is that there are very few seats in the waiting room, but most likely the solution to this problem is just a matter of time.
