What is the difference between the Sheyerman-Mau disease?

The disease of Sheyerman-Mau otherwise in medicine is called dorsal (dorsal) juvenile kyphosis (curvature of the spine). Characterized by progressive dorsopathy, which immediately occurs during the growth of the body itself. It is noteworthy that this kind of ailment occurs both in boys and in young beauties.

general information

In general, kyphosis is understood as a certain deviation from the norm. The Sheyerman-Mau disease is characterized by a deflection of approximately 45 degrees. This kind of deformation is conditioned, according to experts, primarily by the formation of the thoracic vertebrae of the wedge-shaped form.

Main reasons

The Sheyerman-Mau disease arises from necrosis of the so-called closure plates of the bodies of some vertebrae. Thus, these plates themselves represent a very thin layer of cartilage, which directly separates the intervertebral disc from the vertebra itself. Then, if there is a disturbance of blood circulation, these plates become necrotic, which subsequently leads to the formation of a wedge-like form of the vertebrae. In addition, specialists also highlight the following reasons:

  • Hereditary predisposition;
  • Mechanical injuries, obtained as early as adolescence;
  • Various kinds of osteoporotic processes;
  • Disorders in muscle tissue.

Symptoms

First of all, in young patients with this diagnosis there is a strong pain between the shoulder blades themselves. That is why the Sheyerman-Mau disease can be very difficult to determine at the initial stage. Somewhat later, the stoop is added to the symptoms, which is already visible to the naked eye. Just when the disease is already progressing and there is a so-called rounded back, parents turn to a specialist for advice.

Treatment

With this diagnosis, therapy, as a rule, is conservative. It implies a special massage and physiotherapy procedures, and even some exercises from physiotherapy exercises. In particularly serious cases, wearing a corset is required. In addition, in the absence of the proper effect of the above-described therapy, surgical intervention may be required, but it is used exclusively in extreme cases, since the risk is very high. According to the available data, in most cases it is enough to perform daily special exercises for Sheyerman-Mau disease.

Preventive measures

In order to avoid the appearance of such an unpleasant problem already in adolescence in children, doctors strongly recommend follow elementary preventive measures. So, parents must necessarily constantly monitor the bearing of their child, the correct position of the body behind the workplace. In addition, you should also plan to visit an orthopedic doctor who will be able to make a diagnosis even in the early stages. Otherwise, the child will not only accompany Sheyerman-Mau's disease, a photo of which can be seen in this article and other sources, but also a number of complexes on appearance issues.
