What does gynecological ultrasound mean?

Under gynecologic ultrasound, it is customary to understand a special method of diagnosing a woman's reproductive system, which is performed using special ultrasound equipment. The purpose of this study is primarily to identify possible gynecological diseases in the early stages of development, in monitoring the course of pregnancy and the development of the fetus itself. Gynecological ultrasound of adolescents allows you to quickly identify congenital anomalies in the formation of urogenital organs.

The reason for the popularity of this method

Among the most unusual set of screening methods of diagnosis at the moment gynecological ultrasound takes a leading position. This kind of popularity and simultaneously demand is due to several reasons. So, first of all, gynecological ultrasound is one of the most accessible diagnostic methods from the financial point of view, which allows to give a large amount of information about the current state of the reproductive system of a woman. Moreover, this procedure is completely painless and excludes the possible penetration of dangerous infections into the body. On the other hand, this method does not require additional serious preparation from the patient and is possible without restrictions for conduction (unlike, for example, from MRI).

Diagnosis of diseases

Thanks to the use of this method of research, a specialist (gynecologist) can examine the position of the uterus, appendages as much as possible, determine the size of the ovaries, and detect neoplasms. In addition, often gynecological ultrasound is also prescribed for invasive interventions during the carrying out of crumbs in the womb, including for surgical interruption. It is important to note that the gynecological ultrasound is assigned, depending on the disease, in different phases of the menstrual cycle. For example, in the first phase, the uterine myoma is better seen, in the second half of the cycle, as a rule, endometriosis is determined. In prophylactic purposes, ultrasound is most often prescribed by a specialist about the fifth day after the onset of menstruation.

Gynecological ultrasound. Kinds

At the moment, experts distinguish in the field of gynecology, ultrasound of two types: transvaginal and transabdominal. Let's consider each of them in more detail. So, in the first case, gynecologists use a special sensor, which is placed directly into the patient's vagina. This species is the most informative in pregnancy, as well as in the diagnosis of serious diseases at the initial stage. Transabdominal ultrasound is often performed in the second and third trimester of carrying out crumbs in the womb. In this case, the examination is carried out through the abdominal wall. It is important to note that a complete bladder of the future parturient is an indispensable condition, due to which an "acoustic window" is formed, using which the doctor examines the reproductive organs. Depending on the purpose of the study, the gynecologist himself determines this or that method.
