The capital of the Republic of Buryatia, the city of Ulan-Ude, is located on the eastern side of Lake Baikal, a hundred kilometers from it, at the intersection of the rivers Selenga and Uda. The city leads its history from 1666, when in this place the Russian Cossacks laid the winter quarters of Udinsk. The modern name of the metropolis acquired in the summer of 1934, under the name of the local river ("Ulaan Ude" in translation from the Buryat dialect means "Red Uda"). The population of the regional capital has been steadily growing in the last few years, and by March 2016 there were more than 430,000 inhabitants. A / D "Volga"

We start our way from the capital, going to the Moscow Ring Road or getting to the direction we need from the departure routes of Moscow. We will move to the east, therefore from the city center it is possible to leave immediately on the highway of Enthusiasts, which will lead us to Gorkovskoe highway (M7 highway). The starting point of the route Moscow - Ulan-Ude can be considered Balashikha, the satellite city of our capital. Then we go all the time straight, according to M7, bypassing Noginsk, Pokrov, bypassing the new district town of Vladimir. After that we take the direction to Nizhny Novgorod and, having passed through Vyazniki and Gorokhovets, we get to the Moscow highway of the city, which stands at the confluence of the Oka and the Volga. Nizhny Novgorod can also be bypassed by the district and, standing parallel to the Volga, in whose honor the M7 highway is named, to keep the way to Kazan. Cheboksary will remain on our left, and in the very Tatar capital we will cross the Volga along a wide bridge and move towards Ufa, passing Nizhnekamsk and Naberezhnye Chelny.

Beyond the Urals

Road "Volga" leads only to Ufa. Therefore, continuing to move on the route Moscow - Ulan-Ude, we leave on the motorway "Ural" in the direction to Chelyabinsk. Further along the E30 we go to the Kurgan and do not forget to go to the village Makushino to the left, taking a little to the north, to Omsk, through Ishim. If you do not turn off and go straight, then the route will take us to Kazakhstan and through Petropavlovsk will lead back to Russia. However, having chosen this path, the traveler risks losing more time, crossing the state borders twice. After Omsk begins not the most pleasant part of the road on a single-track and locally beaten R-254, up to Novosibirsk. And this is neither more nor less - almost 650 kilometers. Federal highway P-255 stretches to Kemerovo. It is a bit fresher, but in places the quality of the asphalt also leaves much to be desired. Further we go to Krasnoyarsk, then to Irkutsk and on R-258 "Baikal" we reach the final destination point.
