WBO rating: recent changes in heavy weights

The WBO (World Boxing Organization) is one of the four main organizations in the world of professional boxing, founded in 1988. WBO rating is an authoritative indicator of the success of athletes, and higher positions in it promise money fights and a chance to seize the champion belt. In the very near future, viewers will see some of the most interesting confrontations that may mark the changes made to the WBO rating. Heavyweight, heavy and light heavy - these three divisions will be considered below.

Table WBO Heavyweight

The hegemony of Vladimir Klitschko in the uppermost division has been going on for several years, however, the prospects for any changes on the horizon are not traced. To date, the situation with the next opponent of the Ukrainian has already been resolved - they will be unbeaten British champion Tyson Fury. Despite the loud statements of the 26-year-old prospect from the country of the Foggy Albion, the chances of an upset in this battle are catastrophically small. In favor of the prospect says his youth and courage in the ring, however, this may not be enough for him in a fight with a disciplined and technical boxer like Vladimir. The ability of the champion to keep the opponent at a distance can be decisive in favor of the Ukrainian factor. Recall that this fight will be held on October 24, 2015 in Germany, in the city of Dusseldorf.

Expected heavyweight fights

Since one of the titles of Wladimir Klitschko, namely, the WBC belt, was returned by the American managers to their homeland (let, and in the judicial order), certain shifts in this weight category are still observed.

The current champion for this version, Deontey Wilder, is likely to be required to meet with Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin, who is on the first line of the WBC rating. The winner of this confrontation may well be Vladimir's next rival, so the rating of WBO heavyweight boxers may change early next year.

WBO Ranking: First Heavyweight

In the so-called kruzervey, which, in the opinion of many experts, is a passing weight category, there are plans for several far-off bouts. Already in August, 14th, on one of the arenas of Newark there will be a duel between the current German champion Marco Huck and the unbeaten Polish challenger Krzysztof Glovatsky (WBO rating - 1). It is interesting that this battle will be the debut for the German in terms of the venue - for the first time he will have to demonstrate his skills in the US. The Polish boxer, incidentally, also did not leave his native walls and is known exclusively for his performances at home. However, for 7 years of his professional career, Krzysztof scored 24 wins (15 by KO), but did not suffer a single defeat, which is an impressive result, even if we take into account not the highest strength of the Polish opposition. Experts anticipate a rather interesting and versatile confrontation.

The position of the Ukrainian avenue of Alexander Usik

Unbeaten young boxer from Ukraine takes 3rd place in the table, if we consider the rating of WBO. Heavy weight for Alexander is "native" - it is in this category that he spent most of the fights in amateurs. Since Tony Bellew, who occupies the 2nd line of the rating, refused to fight with Glovatsky, Usik can be offered the opportunity to meet with the winner of the upcoming championship standoff. In any case, the positions of the Ukrainian are growing stronger, so a similar chance may come to Alexander already by the end of this year. Note that the next opponent of the young heavyweight is already known - they will become a native of South Africa Johnny Muller.

WBO rating in light heavyweight

The situation in this weight category can not but rejoice the domestic audience, considering that the champion of the WBO, WBA and IBF versions is the Russian boxer Sergei Kovalev.
The "destroyer" most recently defended his titles, having won a confident victory over the former champion, Canadian Jean Pascal, who is not that a passing enemy. This fight was the fifth in the column of successful title defenses, given the WBO rating. Sergei won this opposition ahead of schedule: by the 10th round the referee decided to stop the fight.

The next rival of Kovalev will be Algerian Avenue Najib Mohammedi, with whom the Russian will meet in the very near future - July 25. It is noteworthy that this event will happen not in the homeland of Sergei, but in the US, in the Mandalay Bay arena in Las Vegas. From the upcoming fight, we should not expect any intrigue - the Algerian boxer approaches this duel in the rank of a hopeless underdog. Although fortune is an old woman, so nobody can predict the outcome of the battle by 100%.

Expected confrontations in the light heavyweight category

Of course, not for such a rival for the Russian dream of a sophisticated boxing audience. The fact that Kovalev easily overcame previous opponents, Pascal and Hopkins, speaks of the unique dominant position of the "destroyer" at the moment. The only intriguing opposition that can be assumed in the near future is to consider the unification bout with Adonis Stevenson, who has only one defeat in his assets. Nevertheless, the neat strategy that the team of Canadian managers has chosen makes this possibility rather illusory. The strength of Stevenson has not yet been subjected to serious verification, not the fact that Adonis' coaching staff is dreaming about such verification. Still, the fight with Sergei can end very unpleasant for the Canadian.
