In the mid-90s of the last century Gorky autoconcern released its latest passenger car sedan, which was named "Volga 3105". A total of just over 100 copies were sold, so the car is not a very common heart of the Russian population. The fact is that this model was produced under a government order, so the level of comfort and safety of cars at a very high level.

This machine has a four-wheel drive, the wheel formula - 4x4. It is equipped with a V-8 engine running on gasoline, the consumption of which is from 8 to 11 liters per every hundred kilometers. The torque of the "Volga" is 265 revolutions per minute, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 11 seconds. The maximum speed achieved by it is 200 km / h. The car has a five-speed manual transmission and a dry single-plate clutch, which is fixed by a diaphragm spring. In the spacious saloon of the car "Volga 3105" five seats, and the trunk volume of 0.5 liters. The volumes of the machine fully comply with all business-class standards. How the GAZ-3105 was born

In the mid-80s, the once prestigious GAZ-3102 car began to slowly surrender. He looked less prestigious and little suited to the image of general secretaries. That is why it was decided to develop something new. The first concept named "Volga 3105" was born in 1987. It was equipped with a rack and pinion steering, which also had a hydraulic booster. The car was all-wheel drive, equipped with an electric package, which included a central lock. A remarkable design detail of the car was the door handles drowned in the glass. Thanks to this concept was called "Eye". After it was developed three such cars, one of them was in the museum GAZ. A few years later the car "Volga 3105" was officially approved by Gorbachev and put into production.

Test drives of the new "Volga"

By 1992, the Gorky Automobile Plant had fully prepared the Volga 3105 for its production. "Chrysler", however, transferred back in 1988 to the USSR some of its developments, which allowed to make this car so powerful and at the same time safe. During the year, the new model was subjected to constant testing, which confirmed its high level of safety, excellent running characteristics, excellent maneuverability and, of course, a beautiful design that all representatives of the government liked. Also during the period 1992-1993, 15 cars of the same type were produced, which gradually went on sale. The popularity won by the new "Volga" was very high, however, its cost was also great.

The layout that solved everything

It is believed that the GAZ-3105 is the only car produced in the USSR, which had such a successful and advantageous layout: an adjustable column, power steering, six loudspeakers located at the bottom of the car doors and at the rear of the cabin. There was also installed a full electric package, which included not only the central lock and the windows, but also the front seats, as well as the rear sofa, automatic shutdown of the heating after reaching the set temperature in the cabin. This was the first car back then in the Soviet Union, in which there was a system of not only heating and ventilation, but also air conditioning. An important aspect was the possibility of installing a radiotelephone, which could be used from both the front and rear seats. Well, and finally a few words about the interior design. In the interior there is not a single straight line, not a single acute angle. Here everything is only soft and smooth, round, without sharp transitions and contrasts.

Now let's look at why the GAZ-3105 was the business-class car for officials of the early 90s. "Volga" (the photos are presented in the article) has always been considered the most presentable and prestigious car in the Union, which was quite expensive and at the same time looked very attractive. At the same time, its technical characteristics were high, which is often after a small tuning allowed to put cars on the race. Model 3105, which was released in 1992, has a universal body structure, which has something in common with Audi and some classic American car variants. Elegant design, soft lines and overall streamlined bodywork create a prestigious and expensive appearance. By the way, most often this "Volga" is painted in black tones. It is in this color since 1987 and still one of the concepts is stored in the GAZ museum in the city of Gorky.

At the end of the 1980s, the all-wheel drive car became a real sensation in our country. He possessed perfect cross-country ability, even on the most difficult roads, was distinguished by special maneuverability. Also this machine was equipped with front and rear stability stabilizers, which allowed to maintain balance even on the most dangerous sections of the route. With all this smooth ride of the car remained at a high level, and it could be compared with such foreign analogs as Mercedes, Ford or Audi.
