Transport tax for pensioners

The majority of car owners, receiving the next notice on payment of the transport tax, thinks about, whether someone has certain privileges. The human essence is that to give money is not a pity for what you can hold in your hands or feel some benefit, but in this case we have neither one nor the other. This issue is especially acute for disabled people and pensioners, whose small pension has an extraordinarily thrifty nature.

Transport tax for pensioners is no different from that calculated for other categories of citizens. The tax rate is determined by the Tax Code of the Russian Federation with some amendments coming from the legislative base of the subjects of the country. That is, in each region, certain rates are set, as well as transport tax benefits for pensioners, disabled people, families with many children and other categories.

Probably everyone remembers the recycling program, which was held not so long ago as a support to the domestic auto industry. So, a few weeks ago, the governor of one of the cities of our country suggested that some categories of citizens be exempted from paying the transport tax, which purchased cars through the recycling program, as well as pensioners, invalids and veterans of the Second World War. Good offer!

Although the tax legislation already provides benefits. So, for the whole 80% the rate for the transport tax for pensioners having a car with engine power less than 100 hp, and also motorcycles - up to 40 hp has been reduced. If the pensioner-motorists have an auto more powerful (100-150 hp), then the advantage will be 50%. It is easy to calculate for an illustrative example. The most popular domestic car is the VAZ-2106, whose engine power is 80 hp. According to the current rates of legislation, a tax of 25 rubles per 1 hp is stipulated, that is, for the "six" the amount of the tax payment per year will be 2000 rubles. The car falls under the first category of benefits, that is 80%, which means that the transport tax for pensioners will be equal to 20% of 2000 rubles, that is, only 400 rubles.

In order to receive a transport tax exemption for pensioners, you need to file an application with the regional tax inspectorate for its provision, which specifies the car brand, state registration number plate and documents on the basis of which the taxpayer is entitled to benefits. In the event that the pensioner has several objects of taxation, and having benefits, he has the right to write an application for the removal of the duty to pay tax on one of the objects of his choice.

Who has the benefits of transport tax in addition to retirees? If considered according to the Tax Code, benefits are granted:

- the heroes of the Russian Federation and the USSR, social labor; Knights of the Order of Glory 1, 2 and 3 categories;

- Citizens exposed to radiation due to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion (the full list is indicated in the same Federal Law);

- Disabled persons who are owners of vehicles - cars and motorcycles with engine power not exceeding 100 hp.

Additional categories of citizens may have some benefits, if this is provided for by regional legislation.
