The popular SUV, manufactured in Ulyanovsk, by right can be considered the most enduring Russian car. This characteristic he deserved not only because of his patency, but also the carrying capacity. Even the old Bobik (UAZ-469) can easily transport two adults and 600 kilograms of cargo. Machine UAZ is capable and for more, only this will require a trailer. It will add at least another half a ton to the total payload capacity.

Requirements for trailers for UAZ vehicles

Therefore, in the traditional models of trailers for Russian SUVs, such as UAZ-8109 and even GAZ-704, the manufacturer laid the possibility of operation on any roads and terrain, and without any improvements in factory characteristics.

Trailer GAZ-704

It is a uniaxial on-board platform for the transport of goods. As the main tractors for this trailer for its TTX should be used GAZ-69 and GAZ-69A.

The design of the trailer is rather primitive and is a metal platform welded to the frame, with a folding tailgate. It has no braking system: neither working, nor parking. The suspension consists of two longitudinal springs and two shock absorbers. GAZ-704 was equipped with a tent, which could be removed and placed in a special box, located in front of the platform.

The payload of the trailer is 500 kg. The ground clearance under load is 28 cm. Despite the fact that the GAZ-704 trailer, together with the GAZ-69, was removed in 1998 not only from production but also from weapons, the model still finds itself on the roads. Nowadays, the UAZ car is perfectly suited as a tractor for this model of trailers.

UAZ-8109

By its design the trailer UAZ-8109 is almost identical to its ancestor GAZ-704: one axle, the same suspension and awning. Even the payload is the same 500 kg. The essential difference is that the trailer platform can be dismantled and used one frame without a body.

There are also no brakes on the new model, but the kit includes two "shoes" (emphasis), which must be placed under the wheels during the parking.

The wheels on the trailer, as well as their hubs, are completely unified under UAZ-469, which, according to the TTX trailer, is intended to be used as the main tractor for its transportation.

To date, the trailer UAZ-8109 is the most popular and widespread among UAZ SUV owners. Manufacturers of modern models take the design of this model as a basis for the manufacture of new products.

The main advantage of this trailer can be considered high ground clearance with a short base. This allows you to use it in adverse conditions, on roads with poor traffic.

In short, the whole design of the UAZ-8109 is considered the most successful both for the UAZ-469 car and its modifications, and for UAZ Patriot.

Universal trailers on UAZ

The trailer UAZ-8109 has a narrow focus on one brand of cars. Modern manufacturers of trailers produce models that will fit any Russian SUV. They are fitted with wheels designed for a particular tractor (UAZ or "Niva").

That is, a car tire with a size of 225/75 and a R16 disk will be installed on the trailer for UAZ "Patriot". In this case, the distance from the coupling head to the roadway is 55 cm. In addition, in such modifications of trailers, the wheel hubs are strengthened by installing two bearings in them. Shock absorbers in trailers for UAZ vehicles are hydraulic.

Modifications

Depending on what kind of cargo will be transported on the trailer, its modification is chosen.

If you plan to transport long and heavy loads, for example a boat, you will need a trailer with two axles. For off-road, it is not suitable, therefore, when traveling, it is necessary to plan the route in advance and exclude from it problematic sections of the road. In addition, such a trailer obliges the driver to have an open category "E" in rights, since the total weight will exceed 750 kg.

If the trailer is planned to be used rather in a wide range, for example for transportation of bulk cargo, it makes sense to purchase a trailer. This is a universal modification, which has a large field of application. Often manufacturers such trailers are equipped with a winch with a carrying capacity of up to 550 kg. This addition makes it possible to use a dump trailer for ATV transportation. The winch will greatly facilitate its loading into the body.

For transportation of small loads, the uniaxial trailer for UAZ, made on the basis of the 8109 model, is quite suitable.

For all modifications of trailers the manufacturer provides for the use of a waterproof tent, which will protect the cargo from wind and precipitation.

Trailer service

The trailer for UAZ, like a car, needs some attention and care.

Ideally, store it, of course, better in a dry garage to minimize corrosion action on the part. But, as a rule, there is no space next to the trailer car, therefore it should be kept in the open air under a canopy or a waterproof tent. We must not forget that the body of the trailer is a kind of capacity in which moisture can accumulate, and this will inevitably lead to the formation of corrosion.

After operation, especially in wet weather, the trailer must be cleaned and the dirt removed from the joints of the parts. Such a measure will not allow rust to develop. Periodically check the condition of the bearing of the wheel hubs and lubricate them as necessary. Observe the pressure in the tires of the trailer, guided by the instructions of the operating instructions. Do not overload the trailer - this can lead to the failure of its suspension.

Observe the status of the electrical wiring contacts of the unit. Timely remove oxidation products, as well as closely monitor the state of the light alarm. A malfunction of the light fixture may cause an accident.

Do not forget that using a trailer turns the car into a road train - it increases the radius of skidding and turning. Therefore, when buying a trailer, you need to pay attention to the shape of the device that connects the trailer to the tractor.

Trailer hitch

Trailers are produced with two types of connecting devices (drawbar): T-shaped and triangular. The triangular connection device has the advantage over the T-shaped not only in terms of reliability, but also in terms of controllability. In addition, drivers often use it as a pad for a spare tire.

Regardless of the modification, the trailer for UAZ, with proper operation and good care, can last several decades.
