Knowing about this feature, in 2008 TNT channel launched trial thirteen episodes of a new series about the five criminals helping fraud victims from the rich and influential people. The main role in the new project was invited to the legendary winner of the "Oscar" Timothy Hatton, as the creators believed that he could perfectly embody the screen image of the ingenious combinator Nathan Ford. Other important roles were given to lesser known actors who, after the success of Impact, became real stars.

The original name of the project Leverage is literally translated as "the means of achieving the goal," but in Russia the show was broadcast under two titles: "Impact" and "Robbing the loot."

The new TV series was so popular with spectators that it was extended for another four seasons before it was closed. The reason for the closure was the decline in ratings.

For five years of existence, the film "Impact" has been nominated for the "Saturn" award many times in different nominations, but was able to win only once, in 2013.

Based on the plot of this show in 2010, the game Leverage: The Roleplaying Game was released. In it, participants could choose their own character, for which they will play. It became so popular that it won the award in the same year as the best role-playing game of the year.

Plot

The series tells about Nathan Ford, who was once the best detective investigating fraud with insurance and helping insurance companies save millions. But one day his son was sick, and the insurance company refused to pay the expensive treatment of the boy, and he died. Hardly going through all that happened, the protagonist broke up with his wife, left work and sank to the social bottom.

Once a businessman complained to him that his competitors had robbed him, and suggested Nate to lead a team of thieves who, for a fee, should steal his property back. Agreeing, Ford together with his "colleagues" helped the businessman to regain his. But it soon turned out that their employer not only deceived them, but also tried to substitute them. Deciding to take revenge, Nathan and his new friends ask them to help them the famous swindler and thief of works of art Sophie Devereaux. After inventing a cunning plan, they punish the scoundrel and earn money. Encouraged by the success, new friends decide to get help from people affected by the actions of the powerful, influencing them.

The series tells about the five years of their life. Initially, the headquarters of the Robin Hood team was in Los Angeles, and then moved to Portland. For all the time the heroes had to not only bring to the clean water and rob the rich, but also organize revolutions, and also fight with the interpol and other government organizations dreaming of catching Ford's team.

There are five permanent participants in the team: the head and brain Nathan Ford, the resourceful swindler Sophie Devereaux, the martial arts master Eliot Spencer, the thief Parker, risk-loving and suffering from a mental disorder, and the elusive hacker Alec Hardison.

Throughout the series among the characters formed two pairs - Nate and Sophie, as well as Parker and Alec.

Timothy Hatton

The soul of the whole series was an actor who played the role of Nathan Ford. Unlike him, other actors in the project were not so famous. "Impact" was the start of their career.

For the first time Hatton appeared on the screen at the age of five, playing the episodic role of the running boy. The next time he got to shooting in 1972 in one of Disney's productions, and from 1978 a talented young actor regularly appeared on television. Deciding to try his hand at the movies, Timothy did not fail, his first role in the movie "Ordinary People" brought him the "Golden Globe" and the cherished "Oscar."

His next works with Tom Cruise and other beginning stars brought new nominations for prestigious awards. Trying to grow professionally, the actor chose complex and diverse roles that were not always appreciated by critics and spectators. Despite all the efforts, the career of young talent remained at the same level. The actor was often invited to appear, but he could not repeat his first success. Despite active shootings in the nineties and early 2000s, Timothy managed to try himself as a director in two TV series, as well as in one film.

2008 was marked for Hatton not only the release of two films with his participation, but also the beginning of work on "Impact". Over the years, the actor has not received many awards, as is often the case with successful series, but thanks to the unexpected success of the project, which originally planned to shoot only one season, Timothy Hatton was able to remind himself of a new generation of viewers, as well as demonstrate that he still Is capable of much.

After the closing of the show, Timothy received an offer to take part in another project, on racial discrimination, "American crime."

Last year, the actor also starred in yet another series TNT "Public Morality", but due to low ratings it lasted only one season.

Despite the failures of the last three years, Hatton continues to withdraw, and soon a new project with his participation The Long Home will be released on the screens.

Gina Bellman

The second most significant character of "Impact", after Nate, was Sophie Devereaux, the heroine of Gina Bellman.

After the closure of the project, Gina Bellman continues to star in the series, and recently tried her hand at the theater stage.

Other actors of the project

In addition to Hatton and Bellman, the success of the series contributed to other actors. "Impact" could not have been imagined without the courageous Eliot performed by Christian Kane.
