The oil capital of the Russian Federation: a brief history, description, population. Nizhnevartovsk - a city in Western Siberia

The land and wealth of the Siberian region were famous at all times. To conquer the expanses of Siberia, Russian people began many centuries ago. So, from the small settlements founded by migrants from different parts of Russia, whole cities eventually grew up. One of them became Nizhnevartovsk.

Geographical location

Nizhnevartovsk is located in the north of Western Siberia. The city was founded on the right bank of one of the Siberian rivers - Ob. Today it is located hundreds of kilometers east of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk and almost a thousand kilometers to the north-east of Tyumen. The development of oil deposits is the main factor attracting the population here. Nizhnevartovsk is called the oil capital of the Russian Federation.

History of the foundation of Nizhnevartovsk

At the beginning of the XX century, or rather in 1909, in the bend of the Ob River, on its right bank, a small wooden pier was built. Merchant steamers arrived here to replenish the supplies of firewood. The quay was named "Nizhnevartovskaya", which in the language of local residents meant "in the lower reaches of the river". The first settlers, only 11 people, built several houses in the pier area.

During the years of Soviet power (in the 1920s) the Nizhnevartovsk village council was established here. And only after forty years, in 1964, he was awarded the status of a working town of urban type.

To its further development, Nizhnevartovsk is obliged to open oil deposits in its vicinity in 1965 . The largest of them was Samotlor. The development of the field attracted people here, as a result of which the local population was replenished. Nizhnevartovsk began to change its appearance. There were streets. The first construction trust "Megiongazstroy" was established. As a result, in 1972 the village of Nizhnevartovsk finally got the status of the city, after which the air service was opened with the capital of Russia - Moscow.

The construction of a new railway to Surgut and the launch of passenger trains to Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg) contributed to the fact that the population of Nizhnevartovsk was growing rapidly. Tatar and Bashkir oilmen moved in whole families to Nizhnevartovsk.

Peak oil production from the Samotlor field fell in 1980. At that time, almost 159 million tons of "black gold" were mined.

Heraldry of Nizhnevartovsk

The large oil producing city of Western Siberia has its own coat of arms. It was approved in 1999 by a decision of the local administration. The emblem depicts a ring and a drop that symbolizes the oil pipeline and the oil flowing from it. Green spruce on a gold background and a pair of silver fish in the azure field signify the richness of the Siberian forests and the Ob River.

Nizhnevartovsk has its own flag, which echoes with the emblem of the emblem, but in a simplified version. Each color of the flag, but only three, has its own designation. The blue strip is a symbol of greatness, this is the sky, and the water riches of Siberia; White - a symbol of the snowy Siberian expanses, purity; And the golden strip between them is the oil deposits, the wealth of the region.

Nizhnevartovsk today

The city is the organizational and economic center of one of the main oil and gas producing regions of Russia. Here are concentrated large enterprises - OAO Nizhnevartovskneftegaz, Chernogorneft. There are auto repair plant, food and forest industry enterprises. Here the oil pipelines take their many beginnings.

A river port, a railway station with a station building for 900 passengers, an airport that the local population actively uses are built. Nizhnevartovsk, unfortunately, does not have a main communication with the "big earth".

The whole modern life of the city, one way or another, is associated with the operation of one of the largest not only in Russia, but also in the world of the Samotlor oil field. Almost the entire population of the city of Nizhnevartovsk is involved in the work of this oil complex.

There is a developed social infrastructure. There are enterprises of social sphere, a number of educational institutions. There are museums, theaters, libraries. All conditions are created for the life, work, recreation of city residents.

Children's playgrounds are being created, programs have been developed to optimize the use of the city's territory in order to improve the quality of amenities, which ultimately led to an increase in the comfort of living, which would be appreciated by the urban population. Nizhnevartovsk, at the same time, today faces many unsolved social problems. Almost stopped the construction of housing. Most roads require major repairs. Local residents lack in shopping centers, cinemas.
