Many computer users face such a problem when the computer writes that the storage disk is write-protected (or something like that). Consider why there are such situations and what are the options for getting out of them.

Unfortunately, many users (I want to note that not only beginners) Face problems of this kind. It happens that the flash card is working, and then you put it into one "wonderful" moment in the computer and you see on the monitor screen the inscription "The disk is write-protected".   And although you do not persuade her (you can reconnect it or reboot the computer), it's still not in any. And this problem is old, like the world, or rather, as a flash drive.

First of all, let's see why there can be such a situation at which the inscription "Disk is write-protected" appears. On some flash drives there is a small switch that blocks recording on them. But this is less and less common, and this advice is unlikely to help you. But still check. The second reason may be that after you purchased an external drive, you did not format it. Because of this, too, there may be problems. Another reason for the appearance of such an inscription as "The disk is write-protected" may be a physical malfunction - it is possible that something has fallen off inside, contact is weak, or microcracks have formed. Much less often happens that the chip "flew". Then the trouble ... Well, finally we got to the most common cause. For convenience, we put it (the problem) in a separate paragraph.

If you once again insert the device into the computer, and suddenly the flash drive writes "The disk is write-protected", then, most likely, you "caught" the virus. What should I do if your portable USB drive is write-protected? The first, of course, is to check whether there is a blocker. Twist the flash drive in your hands and see if there is a small switch there. If this is not the problem, then we turn to the main solution of the problem.

We try to format our disk drive. Does not work? That's right, in most cases it will not be possible to format the "problem" flash drive with the standard method. So we'll start "dancing with a tambourine" over our "patient". In order to format a disk that is write-protected, you need a specific utility, in other words - a special program. Where can I get it? Perhaps, when you bought this device, it included a disk with it. Although unlikely. Therefore, it makes sense to ask around with friends, suddenly one of them has already encountered such a problem and installs such software on his computer. One such program is, for example, the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. But it's better to try to find a special utility for your device, that is created by the same manufacturer as the flash drive itself.
After installing the program on your computer, format the external drive. You must select the NTFS file system.

If after all the manipulations with your flash drive the problem remains unresolved, and you again read the phrase "The disk is write-protected", then remember if there are any guarantees for it. If this period has not yet expired, then take the drive in repair by the coupon. And even if the warranty is no longer valid, you will have to give the USB flash drive for repairs, perhaps in your case, "surgical intervention" is required.
