The Church of the Resurrection of Christ on "Semyonovskaya": social work, schedule of services

Architectural monument of Moscow recognizes the Church of the Resurrection of Christ on the "Semenovskaya" (metro station). The building of the cathedral was erected in 1855 on the territory of Semenovskoye cemetery. In the same year, on July 17, he was consecrated by the First Hierarch of the ROC Filaret. The temple is open to the congregation and to this day.

General information

Under the clear leadership of the merchant Mushnikov, the Church of the Resurrection of Christ (on "Semenovskaya") was erected. Photos, which captured the cathedral in its original form, was not preserved. However, despite the significant destruction of the temple in the early XX century, as well as the exploitation of the iconic building as a repair plant, its appearance changed little.

In the middle of the 20th century Semenovskoe cemetery was completely destroyed. On the site of the former churchyard there is a square. Revival of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ on the "Semenovskaya" began only in 1996, when the iconic building was transferred to the ROC. Restoration works and reconstruction began only in 2000. From the former beauty of the cathedral were 2 frescoes, but because of the fragility and a large percentage of destruction to preserve the testimony of the XIX century failed. A decision was made on the new painting of the church, which was successfully completed in 2006.

The original appearance was recreated through the donations of parishioners. Most of the territory that belonged to the church before the revolution, was returned to the patriarchal possessions.

Speaking in general, worship services are held daily. On the territory of the church perform prayers for health, as well as funeral services for the deceased. The main difference between the cathedral and others lies in the fact that it is here that the ancient tradition - spiritual singing is embodied. The Divine Liturgy is performed not only by priests, but also by ordinary parishioners. To take part in the singing, it is enough to get a sheet from the regent with the words and notes of the liturgy.

Social work

It was opened in 2006 after the blessing of Alexy II, the patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. The building is located on the Patriarch's farmstead. The Church of the Resurrection of Christ on the "Semyonovskaya" keeps pace with the times. That is why a youth center is organized on the territory of the farmstead. The Orthodox organization carries out various activities that not only instruct the path of God, but also fill the hearts of young people with kindness and love.

In particular, the youth center organizes meetings of men and women, which are aimed at creating a family and giving birth to children. Thanks to the support of the faithful, pilgrimage trips to holy places, hiking trips on weekends are carried out. In addition, the territory of the Gospel Circle, where the Divine Scriptures are analyzed.

Sunday school of the cathedral

The Church of the Resurrection of Christ on "Semenovskaya" is engaged in educational activities that allow parishioners to understand the essence of the Orthodox faith. Children can attend classes from 6 to 13 years. The entire educational process in the Sunday school is a type of dialogue. This allows children not only to learn the theoretical basis of Orthodoxy, but also to ask all questions of interest that are practical in nature.

For the convenience of conducting classes on Sunday school, a library is organized, and there is a large video library. The program of studies includes the study of the Law of God, the New Testament, the history of the ROC, and the technique of chanting. There are additional courses to learn Russian and English languages, as well as a circle of needlework.
