Team games: rules of the game of volleyball

Surely everyone played volleyball at least once in his life. Usually it is played in school during physical education classes. But is it often at such a tender age that we clearly understand the rules of the game? Volleyball, it seems to us, has only two rules: to beat the ball with your hands and try not to let it fall to the floor within its territory. In fact, the rules of this game are much greater. It is clear that volleyball is a team sport, and according to the rules, each team must have 6 people plus 6 in the reserve. The game is played on a court that has a rectangular shape, 18 meters long and 9 meters wide, which is divided into two halves by a grid. Players of each team pass the ball to each other, beating it with their hands and trying to send it through a tight net in such a way that the opponent can not catch it or in their response made any mistake.

The rules of volleyball are such that a team can receive a point in its game only when it is served, but only if the contestants make a mistake. If, by giving the ball, the team is mistaken, then it loses the right to the next pitch, with which, in fact, the game begins. The right to cast the ball is determined by lot, in which the referee and the captains of both teams take part. The one who won, gets the right to choose a pitch or a pitch. Correctly cast the ball must necessarily fly over the grid and do not touch it within certain limits.

Given the rules of the game of volleyball, the team usually loses the right to serve in the following cases:

  • The ball hit the grid or did not reach it, and also flew under it or outside of the restrictive antennas and tapes;
  • The ball touched the player or an alien object;
  • The ball flew out of the court and fell there;
  • The pitch was carried out not from the spot, with two hands, out of turn, throw, with the hand.

Observing the rules of the game of volleyball, the ball is allowed to be beaten no more than three times. Any impact, reception or transmission must be performed with a jerky touch. If the player has moved his hands over the net and touched the ball on the opponent's side, this is considered an error, unless it's blocking. The blocker has no right to touch the ball on the opponent's side before he directs him to the side of the other team. Block the flow is prohibited. Grasping the grid within the bounding bands can be considered correct, and he stays in the game. However, if the grid is touched by the player, this will be considered an error.

There is also a kind of game like beach volleyball. Its rules differ significantly from the classical. So, for example, a duel is held on a site covered with sand, and the ball has a larger diameter. In contrast to the classic, in beach volleyball players are not allowed to change. That is, if someone was injured, due to which he can not continue to play, his team is counted the defeat. In addition, players can be located and move around their site absolutely freely. The ball can also be delivered arbitrarily: by blowing from above or below, with the forearm or a brush, from a place or in a jump. You can beat the ball not only with your hands, but with other parts of your body. You can touch the ball with three players at the same time, but the fourth touch will be counted as a losing point.

If in beach volleyball the game consists of only two games, each of which is played up to the 21st point, then in usual they can be from three to five, and the victory is won by the team that will score 15 points first. If the score is equal, say, 14:14, then the game lasts until there is a difference of two points (17:15, 16:14, 18:16, etc.). The main victory is awarded to the team that won two games of three or three out of five. However, there are rules for playing volleyball, both classic and beach, uniform for all: players must behave adequately and tactfully in relation to each other and the team of rivals. This should manifest itself not only in the process of the game itself, but also after it. If any unsportsmanlike behavior of one of the players is noticed, they will either be warned or removed from the field. Also, players do not have the right to challenge the decision of the judges and make comments to them.
