"Sunstroke": reviews of the film Mikhalkov

Every new film by Nikita Mikhalkov - we expect, causes a wave of violent emotions and feedback, both positive and negative. The scandalous name of Nikita Sergeyevich, the owner of the Nika and Oscar prizes, co-owner of several business enterprises, an active public figure and a blogger, plays an important role in such an agitation: he admires some as a person, others hate. As for his last picture "Sunny Impact", reviews about the film sound diametrically opposed, and not only from the audience, but also from critics. What's so excited the minds of movie lovers?

Nikita Mikhalkov and his work on the film

The historical genre is not a new thing for Mikhalkov: everyone remembers the Oscar-winning drama "Burnt by the Sun", a touching melodrama "The Barber of Siberia". What can I say, even if the degree work (and Mikhalkov is a graduate of the VGIK's directorial department) Nikita Sergeevich, released in 1970, was called "A Quiet Day at the End of the War" and carried the viewer in 1944, during the Great Patriotic War.

Before removing the "Sunstroke" (reviews about the film, by the way, caused great disagreement between critics), the director of 37 years of nurturing design. The script was based on two works of the Russian writer Ivan Bunin - "Cursed Days" and "Sunstroke". According to Mikhalkov, he rewrote Bunin's story eleven times from hand to master the writer's style and create texts that correspond to the Bunin syllable. Many of the details that the viewer saw on the screen were born during the shooting process as an improvisation: for example, the film quotation of S. Ezenshtein (an episode with a stroller flying down the stairs) and the final (disappearance of the steamer in the fog).

Why did the film "Sunny Impact" viewers' comments received such ambiguous, despite all the efforts of Mikhalkov? After all, it would seem that the director was very painstakingly working on the picture?

"Sunstroke": a short summary

Mikhalkov's film "Sunny Impact" reviews if negative and received, then first of all the claims concerned the plot and the dynamics of its development. Indeed, the director has come up with an original approach to the screen version of Bunin's works.

The film begins with carefree paintings of tsarist Russia: a young Lieutenant of His Majesty's Army, traveling on a steamer, meets a beautiful stranger and literally loses his head from it. Then these footage interrupt the episodes from 1920, when the same lieutenant is in the Soviet filtration camp, devoid of epaulettes and military rank, anticipating a looming disaster and wondering how in just a few years everything could have changed so much?

In fact, for 175 minutes of tape there are only 2 major events - the novel of a young lieutenant with a beautiful stranger and his death in 1920 on a barge sowed by Red Army men. Sketches from the past and present are constantly changing each other throughout the film. This picture is not an acute dynamic plot, but rather an atmosphere, moods, metaphors and hidden parallels. Many excerpts could be part of a good video. It's the fans of the dynamically developing cinema for the film "Sunny Impact" reviews, the reviews left negative.

Film crew

Work on the scenario of the picture Mikhalkov began in 2010 together with Vladimir Moiseenko. The latter was not the first time collaborating with Nikita Sergeyevich - before they worked together on both parts of the film "Burnt by the Sun". However, in 2011 Moiseyenko passed away, and Alexander Adabashyan, a well-known actor and screenwriter in combination, was forced to join the group.

Mikhalkov's film "Sunny Impact" reviews received the most controversial, but it was worked by real professionals. For example, the operator of the picture was Vladislav Opelyants who participated not only in shooting video clips for pop stars (Mumiy Troll, Zemfira, Alla Pugacheva), but also in the project "State Councilor", "Burnt by the Sun-2", "12".

The soundtrack to the film was written by Eduard Artemiev, who previously worked on music for the films of Andrei Tarkovsky, Andrei Konchalovsky, etc. The editing was attended by Micha Zaets, who had previously worked with Emir Kusturica.

Actors and roles

"Sunstroke" - a film, reviews of critics of which touched and the cast. Nikita Mikhalkov this time around the side of famous stars and preferred novice actors.

Undoubtedly, the bright discovery was the Latvian Martins Kalita, who received the main role. According to the director, Martins took him with his "a-la Hollywood" appearance, as well as incredible sensuality - this is how Mikhalkov saw the protagonist.

The main female role (mysterious stranger) was performed by Victoria Solovyova - a graduate of the theatrical school of. Shchepkina. For the actress, this was the first experience of filming in a movie.

The audience, of course, remember the expressive Rosalia Zemlyachka in the performance of Miriam Sehon and the touching Junker photographer Alexander Mitchkov. Miriam Sehon can also be seen in Oksana Bychkova's film "Plus One", Michkova - in TV / Dostoevsky.

In addition, the film featured the Serbian actor Milos Bikovich (TV / s "The Married Bachelor"), Alexei Dyakin (TV / Furtseva), Anastasia Imamova (TV / Ivan the Terrible), and others.

Filming

"Sunstroke" (reviews about the film while we omit) - quite spectacular picture. Episodes on the ship were filmed in Switzerland. Filming had to be moved to Lake Geneva, since only there were found wheeled steamers - it was on them that they moved at the beginning of the 20th century. in Russia.

The final scene on the barge was filmed in the pavilions of the studio "Mosfilm". But full-scale shooting was conducted in Odessa, as well as in Gorokhovets (Vladimir region) and Pavlovo-on-Oka (Nizhny Novgorod region).

Budget and box office

October 9, 2014 in the Russian hire came "Sunstroke", reviews about the film appeared in various Russian publications the very next day.

The budget picture was 21 million dollars. Unfortunately, at the box office the film collected only 1 million 693 thousand dollars. But a few months after the premiere, the picture was in Russian cinemas.

Reviews of film critics

"Sunstroke" is a film, critics' reviews about which are diametrically opposed: opinions were divided 50 to 50, almost equally.

For example, the review from the Moscow magazine Afisha is negative. The author of the article rebukes Mikhalkov in the abundance of metaphors, details, that the director repeats himself, that in the mouth of the actors the text sounds like Nikita Mikhalkov has drilled them for hours, imposing intonations and logical accents inherent only to him.

In the newspaper Novye Izvestia to the above remarks added a few more. Like, strange associative parallels are the director: how can memories of adultery help a White prisoner understand how "all this happened?" And how could Darwin's ideas provoke the Red Revolution?

At the same time, the newspaper "MK", "Komsomolskaya Pravda" and several others spoke in defense of the director and his work, noting the artistry and high quality of the picture, as well as its relevance. In the actual inactivity of the main characters, including the White Guards, some critics find the main idea of the picture: while the officers indulged in amusements and dreams, tormented by philosophical questions and gave their destiny and destiny to other people's hands - it was then "all this happened."

So, it happened! On the screens there was a motion picture based on the story "Sunstroke" (Bunin). Film reviews were received immediately, and in the first place - from ordinary viewers.

Some film enthusiasts admit that after the first review the film was rated in the "troychka" area (on a five-point scale). But over time, they had a desire to revise the individual episodes, often popping up in memory. And the more they reviewed the film, the more they began to understand the allegory and metaphorical connections that the director had spent. Many viewers refer the painting to the genre of the philosophical cinema and quite rightly notice that it can not be compared with blockbusters in the spirit of "Interstellar" or "Transformers": "Sunstroke" is a movie of a completely different order.

Negative feedback from viewers relate to anti-communist ideas, which are allegedly propagated in the film, the lack of dynamics in the plot. Again, comments are made about the fact that Mikhalkov recently begins to copy himself.

In a word, the "Sunstroke" - a film, comments, reviews received a very mixed. That is why, before you spend your time watching it, you need to think about whether you are in the mood today to solve charades and metaphors, or whether the emotional state requires a more simple and understandable movie to discharge. It is necessary to choose the right genre for leisure, and then claims to the director about the dynamics and severity of the plot will not be.
