Stationary telephone and GSM-communication

Chinese wisdom says that there is nothing more terrible than living in an era of turmoil and change. Well, apparently, all of us are now very fortunate to live at such a time: the collapse of the Soviet Union and the accompanying upheavals, a change in lifestyle, climate change. Obviously, one can safely forget about a calm, measured life, when it is possible to foresee the future with a high probability of a few decades ahead. On the one hand, it's really not very good. But if you look at what's happening a little from a different angle ... A quick shift makes life more interesting, saturated. What still seemed fiction yesterday, today becomes a reality.

For example, a couple of decades ago it seemed that a landline telephone was one of the most sophisticated means of communication. But with the advent of wireless solutions, his position was seriously shaken. When the industry established the production of inexpensive mobile devices, and GSM operators reduced the cost of tariffs, the landline phone began to seem archaic. However, several solutions were proposed that turned the notion of these types of communication. They were stationary GSM-phones.

Apparent contradiction

It may seem that there is some kind of mistake, the expression "fixed GSM telephone" simply can not exist. However, with the current level of progress, this is quite realistic. Two technologies have been successfully integrated in a single device, which is quite unusual. As everyone knows about what a stationary telephone is, but we rarely heard about an unusual symbiosis, we decided to cover this issue.

Radio wave and wire

Rarely, who does not have a mobile phone now. Even more: many models work simultaneously with several SIM cards of various cellular operators. Convenience of wireless solutions is obvious - you can call from any place where there is coverage of base stations. Nevertheless, the landline phone is still used in some cases. For example, in order to save money on the cost of speaking. Imagine that you need to call from a wired phone to your mobile number. It is expensive. However, if instead of the usual device to install a hybrid model at home (the so-called GSM gateway), then all problems will be solved.

The usual scheme of the call is as follows: a fixed telephone - a telecommunications company for wired communication services - a cellular operator - a "mobile phone".

If we succeeded in removing the second link from the chain, then the tariffing would be completely different.

This is what GSM gateways do. Inside such a landline phone there is a standard cellular module and a SIM card. Depending on the number dialed, this or that way of calling is selected.

If you need to call from mobile to a city number, then the owner of such a system dials the subscriber's number in a special way. As a result, the connection to the wireless unit of the located gateway home is first, which dials the required city number. Thus, the scheme takes the form: cellular call initiator - wireless gateway unit - wire module - a classic wired call. Since the sim card of the gateway and the "mobile phone" of the owner, as a rule, belong to the same network, the cost of the conversation is a penny.
