Snails in the aquarium

Snails (gastropods) are the inhabitants of many aquariums. Mainly contain these invertebrate mollusks for cleaning the walls of vessels containing fish, and love - for their beauty and giving a special, marine decor. Snails in the aquarium are quietly adjacent to the fish, it is very interesting to observe them. They maintain the biological balance in the aquarium, eat the remains of the food, which is not eaten by the fish, and loosen the soil.

Snails in the aquarium are very useful, but to maintain their balance there should not be much. 10 liters of water is enough for one individual, as they absorb oxygen from the water, and other inmates may experience its deficiency. You can fight more snails in several ways. The simplest is a timely catch of extra individuals.

Snails in the aquarium can be very diverse, but most often found in lovers of fizika, ampularia, coil and melania. Each species is very original and interesting. For example, fizzy - small round snails up to 1 cm in diameter, yellow-brown, with a left curl of the shell. They perfectly eat the remains of food, dying algae, quickly multiply and lay eggs on the leaves of plants. They must be kept separately from fish, which want to lay eggs, as they feed on it.

Ampularia are snails that have gills and lungs, so they can live outside the aquarium for a long time. They are the owners of long antennae, which are often hidden in shells from fish. Ampulariae reach 5 cm or more, have a golden color, with age dimming. They often go up to get oxygen. Their eggs are laid on the walls of the aquarium and plants that are above the water. They need to be fed dry food, otherwise they start eating aquarium plants. Ampularia perfectly clean the walls of the aquarium, eat dead greens.

Coils are also popular. These snails in the aquarium are found more often than others. They reach 2 cm in diameter, and their shell is twisted as a spiral of Archimedes (in one plane). They are very unpretentious and reproduce quickly, so it is necessary to monitor their population. Melanias are 3 cm clams with a cone-shaped shell, painted in a gray-green color. Most often they live on the bottom of the aquarium, collecting from the soil all the organic rainfall. By their behavior, it is easy to follow the condition of the aquarium. If the water or soil has deteriorated, these mollusks move to the walls.

The breeding of snails is a simple matter, as fizzy, reel and melanii are hermaphrodites and multiply independently of sex. In this matter, it is very important not to allow an increase in their numbers (occurring in a geometric progression) in order not to have further trouble with catching and destroying mollusks. But dilution of ampullaria is a more serious task. During breeding, they can crawl out of the aquarium, so it must be covered. It is also advisable to ensure that the masonry does not dry out, but is moistened. Unlike other mollusks, ampularia are heterosexual, and if you have representatives of the same sex living in an aquarium, it is pointless to wait for offspring.

The content of the aquarium and its inhabitants requires certain knowledge and skills, so before you have them, weigh all the pros and cons. Take care of the full equipment of your home pond, learn the habits of all its inhabitants, their compatibility with each other, the features of feeding. If you are ready, the content of the aquarium will bring pleasure not only to you, but also to your relatives, especially curious kids. You spend hours admiring the mysterious underwater world and its representatives, which has to rest and pacification.
