Similarity and difference of animals of one species: wildebeest, chamois, horn

There are many varieties of antelopes. They differ in size, habitat and appearance. Another feature of this cloven-hoofed mammal is hollow horns that do not have shoots.

Antelope wildebeest is an animal of South Africa. Having large dimensions, it resembles a horse with a bull's head. On close examination, one might think that her appearance is collected from small things and details taken from different animals.

Antelope wildebeest has a mane and tail, like a horse, on the inside of the neck there is a hairy pendant that resembles mountain goats, and the voice is something like a mooing of a cow. The animal grows very large, weighing up to 250 kg, reaching 1.5 m in height and length - 2.8 m. Also it has large wide horns that bend forward, and then sideways.

Antelope wildebeest has thin slender legs that allow you to reach speeds of up to 50 km / h. Depending on the subspecies, the color can be from gray-brown to dark-ashy. The animal is a herbivore, therefore it strongly depends on the rainy season.

In search of food, antelopes have to migrate twice a year. Numerous herds, in which they get lost, during a run can damage the environment, trampling many kilometers of plains.

The mating period begins in mid-April and lasts three to four weeks. The female bore cubs 8.5 months. Antelope gnu - a very caring and attentive mother.

In the litter, there is usually one (very rarely two) calves. Only one hour after birth, he can walk and run. After 7-10 days, a small antelope gnu already tries the herb, but refuses mother milk only after 7 months.

Tame these animals can not, but hunting for them is always, because their meat is very tasty.

During a sudden attack of predators of the antelope, the wildebeest flee in different directions. They are included in the diet of crocodiles, lions, cheetahs, hyenas and leopards. In rare cases, the wildebeest can repel attack from hooves and horns.

From the monasteries of the plains the mountain antelope-chamois differs significantly. Thanks to the special structure of the hoofs, it perfectly moves along the rocks. The animal has small dimensions, growing only up to one meter in length, and has a weight of not more than 50 kg. The horns are slightly curved backwards and reach 25-30 cm.

Sernu can be found in the mountains of Europe. They usually live in packs of 15-25 individuals, consisting only of young and females. Males live singly, and in the herd appear only during mating.

Usually in the beginning of the summer, the mountain antelope gives birth to 1-3 calves, which will feed on milk only for three months. The life expectancy of the chamois is up to 20 years. They are hunted by predators such as the bear, lynx and wolves.

In Asia, there are also several varieties of other antelopes. One of them is the garna.

This Asian antelope has its own peculiarity: the female and the male, unlike many other representatives of mammals of this species, have a different color of the body. The first are much lighter than their counterparts of the opposite sex.

Garn is a medium-sized antelope growing 75-80 cm and weighing 30-40 kg. Spiral horns, growing to 75 cm, have only males. She lives about 12 years.

These animals live in numerous herds only on the plains. Garnies never enter the forest. They adapt very quickly to any unfavorable conditions.

During the mating period between the males of the Asian antelope, cruel battles can be observed. The period of pregnancy of the female is 5-6 months. After the birth of the young, the female hides them for several weeks in the tall grass.

The main predators who prey on the garn are wolves. Due to their caution and ability to develop high speed, the victims of other large animals these antelopes become rare.
