Shell (engine oil): reviews

To date, Shell, whose oil is known all over the world, is a multinational energy corporation. Its products are firmly entrenched in the Russian market.

history of the company

The founder of the brand is Marcus Semjuel, who in the first half of the nineteenth century opened his shop in London. It sold various souvenirs, including ornaments made from sea shells. From there the well-known logo, which has become so recognizable today, went.

Business of Marcus was continued by two of his sons, one of whom decided to start shipping kerosene by sea. For this purpose, the world's first tanker was created (in 1892). And five years later the company was registered The Shell Transport and Trading Company Ltd. The main activity is trade in oil and kerosene.

Then a joint concern was formed Royal Dutch Shell, forty percent of which belonged to the Samuyals family. So the company existed until 2005, then it was decided to merge them into a single one with the center in The Hague.

Plants all over the world and in Russia

Today the company owns a lot of factories located all over the world, including in Russia. In addition to its own production, many joint projects are being implemented.

For example, Shell Rimula motor oil intended for commercial transport is produced at the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez plant. In the Tver region, in the city of Torzhok operates its own butter mixing plant.

About the lubricant

The engine of the car, in fact, is his heart. And for a good job, you just need to use high-quality engine oil. It can significantly prolong the life of the engine, providing its functionality.

This is achieved by reducing the friction of individual engine parts, thus ensuring the smooth operation of the entire mechanism. Lubricating fluid also maintains the best engine temperature in a natural way, helping the antifreeze work. In addition, the corrosion of the elements is prevented when a complex of active, so-called additives is added, which prevent the formation and development of this destructive process. That's why drivers pay so much attention to what kind of oil is poured in their engine.

The company claims that the engine oil "Shell" is produced using a special technology that allows you to get the highest quality products on the way out. Huge experience has allowed to achieve outstanding results to be able to meet the growing demand of consumers and meet all the requirements of modern engines.

As you know, oils are mineral, semi-synthetic and synthetic. The most popular is the line of products on a synthetic basis. Among the bottoms are known oil "Shell Ultra", "Helix" and others.

Recommendations of manufacturers of car industry

Oil plays an important role for the engine, so it is clear that the lubricating fluid is not the product on which it is worth saving. There are a lot of manufacturers who recommend "Shell" (motor oil).

Among them is the famous Italian company "Ferrari". It is also recommended by manufacturers of other car brands, including Volkswagen, Saab, BMW, Porsche, Fiat, Chrysler, Rover, Renault.

Perhaps this popularity of the brand is associated with a special technology, which, according to the company, is used in the manufacture of oil?

Magic balls

Manufacturers assure that the oil is a very thin film that can function at high temperature. This became possible, thanks to the invention of some elastic balls (molecules), of which additives have a special wear-resistant structure. They significantly reduce friction between individual engine components. However, the company, using these magical additives, is not original. Many oil producers are positioning something similar, promising car owners to keep engine parts in order for a long time.

One way or another, Shell oil (Helix, Ultra, Rimula, and so on) is trusted by a large number of domestic motorists. Whether it is caused by wide advertising, manufacturer recommendations or the real excellent state of the engine, it remains to be seen.

Counterfeit and original

Like many famous brands, there is a serious problem with Shell. This oil is forged in Russia, pouring expensive products into cans with a label.

In order to be sure that under the guise of an expensive lubricant you have not been sold a cheap analog, you need to know how to distinguish the original from a fake.

The fake canister Shell itself can tell a lot. Oil is unlikely to be visually determined, but a sharp smell can indicate a fake, since the original has almost no.

So, it is enough to study a number of signs to distinguish a fake canister from the original one. Consider the engine oil "Shell Helix."

First, in the original packaging, the liquid will not be visible. But on a fake plastic is not so dense, and through it you can see the oil.

Secondly, look at the back label. In the original version, the text should be centered, but on the fake letters will be shifted to the side.

Thirdly, on the original products of such a well-known manufacturer, the label is glued perfectly and has clear qualitative inscriptions. There should not be any blurred letters, all the more mistakes in the text are excluded. If you noticed, be sure, you have a fake.

Fourth, forgery can be calculated on the bottom. On the original there is a sign, meaning that the product does not apply to food. Falsifier, as a rule, does not have it. In addition, here you can pay attention to the seams. There should be no trace of mold casting.

Also, the measuring scale is evenly distributed along the entire length from the side of the handle, and on the fake in the lower part, traces of mold casting will also be visible.

Sixth, look at the neck. On a fake, it is thicker than the original one. The lid on the fake can be rough. When opening a protective strip should not be torn.

If, after opening the lid, you find a foil, this is proof of the falsification. Only the white membrane should be used on the original.

To buy or not

Responsible decision on the choice of lubricant lies on the car owner. Sometimes for him this issue is decided by official dealers, from whom the car owner goes through warranty service. Often such centers use Shell oil. Reviews of drivers about it are nonetheless contradictory, in contrast to those manufacturers who diligently advertise it. Maybe someone just got a fake, one of the many available on the market. At the same time, some independent laboratories, conducting research, come to unexpected conclusions, discovering good qualities in not very well-known brands, while in advertised products they find the most ordinary characteristics.

Such conclusions are worth exploring, before declining to choose the oil of one or another producer.
