Rufabgo waterfalls - magnificent water streams of Adygea

If you want to have a good rest and see the magnificent views of the wild nature, then the tours to Adygea are something that will amaze your imagination, and you definitely will not regret the time spent.

Rufabgo is a twenty-kilometer-long tributary of the Belaya River, flowing in the Maikop district of Adygea. The tributary is only a large stream, but it is known throughout the country for its fifteen (!) Waterfalls. Six of them are located in a picturesque gorge.

The most famous of these streams has the same name as the stream. This is the Rufabgo waterfall. Its origin is explained by an ancient beautiful legend. Above one of the creeks in this valley lived a huge and terrible giant Rufabgo. Among other things, he had one magic property: if the enemy cut off part of his body, then it immediately grew back, and any wounds healed immediately. He lived in a huge and beautiful cave, inside which was a large karst funnel, through which the giant communicated with evil forces, scooped from there incredible power. He subdued the people living in the valley of the Belaya River and overlaid it with a huge tribute: out of ten sheep he took nine, as he did with horses and cows. But it was not the whole tribute. From every village he took the most beautiful girl, as soon as she was sixteen. And if someone resisted this custom, then the giant killed him without any pity. In one of the villages a handsome and strong young man, Hajokh, grew up. He was in love with a beautiful girl and knew that as soon as she was sixteen, the giant would take her, and no one would ever see her again. He really wanted to prevent the giant Rufabgo, but he knew that it was almost impossible. In desperation, he went to the mountains and met a good wizard named Mezmai, who gave him a bag of magic powder and said: "Go to Rufabgo from the windward side, pour the powder out of the bag so that its cloud envelops the giant, he stops seeing For a few moments, and you cut out at that moment his heart and throw it as far as possible, so that the giant can not find it. "

Hajokh came to the giant and summoned him to a duel. The giant laughed at his face, but took up his weapon and sat down on his horse. He rode out into the valley, and here he stuck in a soft earth. The brave youth threw a magic powder at Rufabgo, pierced it and cut out his heart. Then he threw it as far as possible. He saved his girlfriend and the inhabitants of the valley.

This is a picturesque legend. Now let's take a closer look at this miracle of nature, let's see what the Rufabgo waterfalls are.

The creek of the same name, the tributary of the Belaya River, has its origins on the slopes of the Azish-Tau ridge. In the lower reaches, it passes through a tectonic fault. On this site the stream carries its waters through cliffs, terraces, grottoes and rock corridors, one of which is one hundred and fifty meters long. On the slopes of the gorge there is a beech forest, and there are extensive thickets of Colchis ivy. On this site are the most beautiful waterfalls of Rufabgo. There are six of them. Let's talk about them in more detail.

It is convenient to look at the Rufabgo waterfalls, starting from the mouth of the stream, from the place of its confluence into the Belaya River. The very first waterfall is called "Three Brothers". Here water falls a thin three-jet tape. The next waterfall is called "Noise". Before it from the mouth of some 250 meters. Going close to it, you will see a six-meter-long lake, into which falls a rumbling mountain stream. Until the next waterfall called "Cascade" or "Kid" you need to go another 900 meters. It consists of three cascades. After another 120 meters we see the Rufabgo waterfall itself. A huge stone in the shape of a human heart lies in the middle of a waterfall, dividing it symmetrically into two equal parts. This is a very beautiful sight. Then, after another 150 meters, we see the waterfall "Lace", or "Maiden Spit," so nicknamed because of his elegance. Farther away are the waterfalls "The Girl's Spit" and "The Bowl of Love." In these places, remnants of the camp of primitive man were found. Beautiful caves are available for viewing. There is a viewing platform with beautiful views of the wild nature.

Rufabgo waterfalls, if you see them personally, will remain in your memory for a long time.
