Pros And Cons of Transition To Solid State Drives Ssd

SSD (Solid State Drive) is a data storage device without the usual mechanical parts. Such drives are more intelligently called drives, because they do not have disks that are in the familiar HDD, and instead of disks in solid state drives there are memory chips And a controller. These drives have so far won the choice of not too many customers, but they predict a great future, right up to the displacement of HDD. Some manufacturers, like Samsung stopped producing standard hard drives, and switched to SSD entirely.
In fact, SSD appeared in the 50's, but in mass production, in our hands with you they only got recently, just a couple of years ago. The main problems of SSD are volume and price. One gigabyte HDD - memory costs 4 rubles, and gigabytes on SSD ... more than a hundred rubles! Accordingly, a small 100 GB SSD drive will increase the price of your computer by 10,000 rubles. SSD works much less, since its number of read and write cycles is meager 10 to 100 thousand, and before that it was even less. However, all its drawbacks are compensated by one (though very weighty) advantage - very high speed - 100-200 mb / s, and the HDD reads and writes at a speed much lower - 50 - 90 mb / s. And also the lack of moving allows to avoid damage and even complete failure due to shocks and vibration, which means that the hard disk will keep your information longer. Also, the lack of moving parts ensures absolutely noiseless operation, and besides SSD, thanks to low power consumption, allows you to work much longer on your smartphone, laptop or set-top box.
And, of course, everyone knows: you can put a powerful processor and top-end video card, insert gigabytes of memory into your configuration, but .. the operating system and games will still be loaded for a long time. And installing a solid-state drive, you immediately feel the increase in speed, as well as absolutely noiseless operation.
However, the SSD is still quite young, and it's still impossible to talk about its service life (although they all still work), and some older models are slowly starting to break down. SSD has so far participated in a fairly small number of large tests for "longevity", and they often did not take into account everything: for example, not registered (officially not subject to) errors. But if you are indifferent to the small number of cycles of reading and writing, a great price and a small volume - safely go to the store. And you are unlikely to regret it!
