Power take-off is an important part

It is necessary to use additional power sources of power take-off for driving of load-and-load units of motor transport. One or more types of devices transmit the operating force from the motor to the actuators. Here you need a power take-off (COM).

Selection of COM

From the type of additional equipment and prospective tasks depends on the choice of COM. Optimal operation, quality, simpler installation, lower total cost of the box with installation works are taken into account. Depending on the field of application, drive mechanisms of different types are connected to the COM, which transmit the force to the working unit, which requires power. The technical requirements of the additional equipment determine which unit is most suitable. Since the interaction of COM with the power unit and the transmission is critical, the power take-off must be structurally coordinated with the engine and gearbox.

  • The use of increased pressure in the system makes it possible to reduce the size of the used pipelines and hydraulic pumps, which saves space and reduces weight.
  • Direct connection of the hydraulic pump to the box reduces the cost of installation.
  • A larger gear ratio in the KOM makes it possible to use a lower crankshaft speed, which reduces the noise level and reduces fuel consumption.

Dependent type power selection

The clutch-dependent KOMs are installed on the MKPP. Use them is possible only when the engine is idling. They are easy to install and have a low weight. A box of selection with a drive from an intermediate shaft МКПП fastens behind to the case of a transmission. The speed with output power is determined by the engine speed and gear ratio. The clutch-dependent power take-off can be activated by the pneumatic system while the engine is idling . The clutch-dependent power take-off is suitable if the special vehicle is equipped with a manual gearbox, and there is no need to select it on the fly.

The advantages of a dependent system

  • Dependent Kom weigh less than independent.
  • There is no overrun of engine power due to the fact that the hydraulic oil is not continuously pumped in the system, as is the case with power take-off regardless of the clutch.
  • The design is simple and sturdy, the required maintenance is minimal and you can achieve low installation costs. The inability to turn on power take-off when moving the car can be considered an advantage in terms of safety.

Models of dependent KOM for domestic cars

  • Power take-off KAMAZ, mounted to the upper manhole of the gearbox: МП02, МП03, МП08, МП27, МП55.
  • To the right side hatch KP: MP01, MP05, MP07, MP15, MP21, MP22, MP29, MP41, MP50, MP57, MP73, MP74.
  • To the left lateral hatch КП: МП39.
  • To the rear end of the gearbox: MP23, MP28, MP47, MP48.
  • To the upper hatch of the transfer case: MP24, MP32.
  • Power take-off box GAS, mounted to the right side hatch KP: MP01, MP05, MP07, MP15, MP29, MP41, MP73, MP74, MP82.

For the old model GAZ-53

GAZ-53 became the most massive truck of the USSR. On its chassis, special equipment was produced, in particular gasoline tank trucks. To operate the pump on the gasoline tank installed a power takeoff GAZ-53, bolted to the right side hatch 4-speed gearbox. To the pump rotation is transmitted through the cardan. Power on is mechanical. Modification 53b-4202010-08 is connected by splines, and 53b-4202010-09 is connected by flanges. The maximum transmitted power is very small: 9.42 kW.

Independent power sampling

An independent power take-off from the clutch can be mounted on the car with power unit and transmission of any type. It can be switched on when moving and on fixed equipment. The independent COM is also suitable for its inclusion outside the car. For vehicles requiring continuous access to power take-off, complete independence of the clutch is the only solution.

For the manual transmission: the power take-off is driven by the engine flywheel and mounted between the engine and the manual gearbox. The magnitude of the speed and power is controlled only by the power unit. The power take-offs have an electropneumatic / hydraulic switching system made with a friction clutch.

For the automatic box: the KOM is mounted in front of the top of the gearbox. The action is driven by the engine flywheel through the torque converter, which with the help of a strong drive pinion drives the power to the power take-off. Therefore, the rotational speed of the converter is not affected by the COM. The power take-off is performed by the electric and hydraulic systems, including during the movement.

Independent of adhesion

A box is mounted on the engine. It is activated by the camshaft drive. This means that when the engine is running, the COM works independently, the transport is moving or standing. Activation of the hydraulic drive is carried out by a safety valve installed on the hydraulic pump.

Models of independent COM

  • COM KAMAZ, mounted to the right side hatch KP: MP121-4202010, MP119-4202010, MP123-4202010.
  • To the left side manhole cover: MP114-4202010.
  • To the rear end of the gearbox: МП105-4206010.

Installation of MAZ boxes

At the manual gearbox the MAZ power take-off is mounted on the left or right. The location affects the direction of the operating shaft, therefore, the location of the pump hydraulic system. With the help of rubber pads, metal and paronit pads, the distance between the gears is regulated. At the first test run of the installed power box, the torque should be low. Teeth of gears must be worn.
