Portuguese defender Bruno Alves

Bruno Alves is a Portuguese defender who is in favor of the Italian "Cagliari". His career is already nearing completion, as this year he will turn 35 years old, which is very much for a field player. Bruno Alves plays as a central defender.

Carier start

Bruno Alves was born on November 27, 1981 in Portugal, his mother - a Portuguese, and his father - a Brazilian. At the age of 11, Bruno signed up for the football academy of the Varzim club, where he spent most of his junior career. Only when he was almost eighteen years old, Alves changed club registration, having appeared in the academy of the largest Portuguese club "Porto". There he spent only one season, and in 2000 was already called in a double, for which he played a year and a half. Then the club management noticed that Bruno Alves is a talented defender. But in the main team "Porto" there was no place for an inexperienced young man, so it was decided to give him to gain game experience in the lease.

Leases

Bruno Alves is a football player who traveled for quite a long time in rent at the beginning of his career. In the winter of 2002, he was sent for a year and a half to Fahreness. In the second half of the season 01/02 he went to the field 15 times, unable to help the team avoid relegation to the Second Division. Here is the second season, the defender played 33 matches, scoring three goals, than impressed the fans, but not the management of the club, which wanted to see it at a higher level. Therefore, in the summer of 2003, Bruno went on a regular lease - this time to Vitoria, which was guaranteed to be held in the Higher Division all season long. There Alves played 27 matches, scored one goal - but still did not find a place in the basis of "Porto". And in the summer of 2004 he went for another year in rent - this time abroad, to the Greek "AEK", for which he also played 27 matches. And only in 2005 the 24-year-old defender was trusted enough to admit him to the basis of "Porto" - and did not regret it.

The game for Porto

In the first season, Bruno Alves steadily polished the bench, leaving the field only 11 times. But the next season he won a place in the base - and for four years was one of the key players in the defensive line of the club. In total for "Port" Bruno Alves has played 171 matches, scoring 17 goals. During this time, he became the champion of Portugal four times, won the Portuguese Cup three times, collecting an impressive amount of trophies before being sold for a serious amount to the St. Petersburg Zenit.

Going to Zenit

In the summer of 2010, Zenit paid 22 million euros to get the Portuguese defender at its disposal. When Alves came to the club, the Russian season was already over, and he appeared on the field in only 25 matches. But even then he managed to immediately win the Russian championship. In the next season, he went on the field 45 times, being one of the main creators of success - the St. Petersburg club for the second time in a row became the champion of Russia. In the third season, Alves became much less likely to go on the field and played only 30 matches, which did not suit him. Therefore, in the summer of 2013, he moved to the Turkish "Fenerbahce" for five and a half million euros.

Moving to Turkey, and then to Italy

Bruno Alves has spent three full seasons in Turkey, being one of the key players of the team. He went on the field 101 times, scoring four goals, and in 2014 won together with the club the championship of Turkey. But in 2016 his contract expired, and the defender did not renew it. Where is Bruno Alves now playing? Even before the expiration of the contract, he agreed to sign a two-year contract with the Italian "Cagliari", for which this season he played 9 matches, scoring one goal.

National team appearances

For the Portuguese national team, Bruno Alves played 85 matches, which allowed him to enter the top ten in the number of games held by the country. He made his debut for a very long time - in June 2007, and since then, the defender has played at European championships in 2008, 2012 and 2016, as well as at the 2010 and 2014 World Championships.
