Perm State Technical University: faculties and branches

Perm is by right considered one of the largest centers of education in our country. There is a huge number of educational institutions of different orientations. And, of course, in the Urals, technical sciences are particularly valued . For more than 50 years, the Perm State Technical University, whose faculties will be described in our article, conducts training for students on the most relevant applied specialties.

History of University

Its origin is in 1953. It was then that the Ministry of Culture of the USSR decided to open a higher educational institution in the Prikamye. In the early years Perm State Technical University (PSTU) was called the Mining Institute. He was supposed to provide the region with engineers who specialized in the coal industry. First, the school had neither its own building nor hostels. Classes were held in a construction college, where a small area was rented. The construction of its own building began only in 1955 on October Square. The main specialization of the university was mining.

In 1960 the institute was merged with several other educational institutions of the Kama region. Among them, for example, was the Technical Faculty of Perm State University. Also, the Machine-Building Institute was attached to it. In the same decade, new faculties began to open, which taught students the building, architecture, chemistry. In the 70 years the Institute was actively growing. After Kama began the construction of a huge student complex, which, in fact, has become a new urban neighborhood. Its construction was completed only in 1989. In 1992, the institution was named Perm State Technical University. It was under this name that he became famous not only on the territory of Russia, but also abroad.

How to enter the university?

Training in PSTU is conducted in full-time, part-time, evening and distance form. As in other educational institutions, the introductory campaign here begins in July, after passing the school examinations. Applicants must provide the admissions committee with all necessary documents (copies can be made) and fill out a special application. You can also file all the papers in Tchaikovsky or the large Berezniki branch (Perm State Technical University). Faculty future students can choose themselves, taking into account their own desires and the results of passed examinations. After the delivery of documents, you only have to wait for admission to a budget or paid place. Usually, the lists of incoming CSTU are published in early August.

Mining and Oil Faculty

As it was said above, initially PSTU specialized in the mining industry. Therefore, this faculty is considered to be the oldest in the university. It was founded in 1953. Here, students are taught the basics of the mining business, and after graduation they become oil workers and engineers. In the last year they are introduced to the leaders of the country's largest fuel companies, which also helps to get a good job. For all time, the Perm State Technical University (Perm) has graduated more than 30 graduates with doctoral degrees. Another 150 students successfully defended their candidate works.

The faculty, in turn, is divided into the following departments:

  • Geology of gas and oil;
  • Life safety;
  • Oil and gas technologies;
  • Mining electromechanics;
  • Surveying and geodesy;
  • Development of mineral deposits.

Students are trained by qualified teachers, most of whom have academic degrees and titles. On the basis of the faculty, a geological museum was opened. All departments are equipped with modern equipment, which allows graduates to get not only theoretical but also practical skills. The faculty has several computer classes and a specialized laboratory.

Faculty of Civil Engineering

This faculty was founded in 1959. He teaches engineers for construction, as well as architects and designers. Classes here are held in full-time, distance and correspondence form. The Center for Continuing Education allows students to improve their qualifications. 89 teachers work at the faculty. Several of them have a doctorate and a Ph.D. It is based on a design, design and design bureau, a building material testing laboratory and an engineering center. In total, the faculty trains more than 1500 students. There is also an admission to the magistracy and postgraduate study.

Perm State Technical University conducts training in the following construction specialties :

  • Heat and gas supply, water supply, drainage and ventilation.

Road Faculty

The Road Faculty was founded in 1979, but the students of this specialty started much earlier here. Students can receive education both in person and in absentia. Graduates of this faculty are directly involved in the construction of new roads, and also work in large automobile companies. The faculty employs modern laboratories, as well as the only iHouse research module in Russia. Students regularly study at industrial enterprises in Germany, Austria and China.

Aerospace faculty

The faculty was founded in 1993. The Perm State Technical University offers students a prestigious education and become experts in the field of aviation and engineering. Faculty of Humanities

Perm State Technical University prepares graduates not only for practical but also for humanitarian specialties. This faculty has been working since 1993. He trains students in economics, public administration, linguistics, sociology, advertising and public relations. On the choice incoming offers full-time, correspondence and distance form. Graduates of the faculty can continue their studies in the magistracy, and then in graduate school.

All-Russian and international conferences are held regularly. The faculty cooperates closely with the educational institutions of Germany, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Serbia and China. In graduate school students can also get education in philosophy, political science and sociology.

Berezniki branch

Like any large educational institution, PSTU has several branches, which are located in small towns of the Prikamye and the Urals. One of the largest is considered to be Berezniki branch. Perm State Technical University conducts training in the following specialties:

  • Electric power industry;
  • Mining, chemical technology;
  • Information and computer technology;
  • building;
  • Technospheric security;
  • Technological machines and equipment;
  • Innovation.

The branch is located in the city of Berezniki, which is the second largest settlement of the Perm region. There are built 2 educational buildings, which are fully equipped with computer and engineering equipment. There are own laboratories of the computer center. At the moment more than 2,000 students study here. Over 50 years of work in Berezniki, more than 10,000 specialists were graduated.

Branch in Tchaikovsky

The Chaikovsky branch of the Perm State Technical University was founded in 1998. Here you can not only get your first higher education, but also take courses to increase specialization, retraining courses. In this branch the following training directions are realized:

  • management;
  • Industrial and civil construction;
  • Power supply;
  • automation and control.
