Paint and varnish materials: hammer enamel

Hammer enamel is a quick-drying coating, specially designed for a variety of aluminum and steel products. This name she received due to a peculiar texture, which resembles the impact surface of the old instrument.

The hammer enamel is made from special resins, aluminum paste and auxiliary additives, providing a unique hammer effect. The finished coating is characterized by its resistance to high temperatures (up to +130 degrees Celsius) and various mechanical damages, as well as high impact strength and excellent anti-corrosion properties.

Modern colors of this type have, as a rule, alkyd-styrene base, which allows them to dry completely in a few hours. In addition, the hammer enamel can include a rust converter , an epoxy component, which makes it much easier to prepare a surface before direct application of the color. An unusual surface texture is created by adding a special chemical reagent to the paint.

The scope of this coating is very extensive today. Alkyd enamel is used both for dyeing industrial equipment and household appliances, and for decorating office and home interiors in the style of hi-tech. An excellent effect gives the coloring of the composition of steel doors, various forged products, fences, gates, heavy metal furniture. At the same time the composition can be used both outdoors and indoors.

The hammer enamel is usually applied by means of a pneumatic sprayer to a previously prepared surface, completely cleaned of dirt and dust, degreased and covered with a primer. Staining is performed in either one or two layers. As a solvent for paints of this type, xylene is used. On average, the enamel consumption for a single-layer coating is about 90-120 g / m².

The undoubted advantages of alkyd paint include good adhesion to bases of various types, high elasticity in combination with hardness, abrasion resistance. In addition, the hammer enamel is resistant to water, a variety of weather conditions, solvents, acids and gasoline. However, at the same time, the colors of this species are fire and explosive, require storage in heated warehouses and are characterized by toxic effects on humans.

You can buy hammered enamel today either in specialized online stores, or in ordinary construction shops and shopping centers offering various products for repair. Manufacturing companies offer alkyd paints of a wide variety of colors at a price ranging from two hundred to one thousand rubles per kilogram, depending on the brand and the amount purchased. From the buyer you just need to look in the catalog and choose the most suitable option for color.
