Overkill group: features of creativity

History

The Rock band Overkill was formed from some members of the project The Lubricunts. The team posted an announcement that they needed a guitarist and a vocalist. Bobby Ellsworth responded to him. As a result, the original composition of the collective was born. The band Overkill did not immediately stop at its name. Before, there were several others. Among them is the Virgin Killer. Early songs were covers of other punk bands. In the end of 1980 the collective was replenished with two guitarists and expanded the repertoire. While the band performed covers, the participants played it with tremendous speed and extraordinary energy. This allows the team to be assigned to the founders of thrash metal.

In 1983, the band released a demo tape called Power In Black. The work caused a furore in near-musical underground circles. Power In Black allowed the band to appear on a pair of music collections. In addition, the team managed to sign a contract with a recording studio called Azra / Metal Storm Records. There, in 1984, EP Overkill was created. The album includes four songs. The work was a success, and the whole issue was sold out very quickly. Thanks to this, the band Overkill was at the forefront of thrash metal, which at that time was gaining strength. The musicians claim that they did not receive a monetary reward for the above work.

However, the album aroused interest in the new collective. In particular, the group drew attention to John Zazula - the owner of Megaforce Records, one of the most famous metal labels. The studio signed with the team a contract for a number of albums and created in 1985 their first full-scale studio work Feel The Fire. In this paper, the influence of NWOBHM is felt. At the same time, fans and critics most often call it a masterpiece of thrash metal. It was she who approved the group as one of the main teams that works in this direction, both on the east coast of the United States, and throughout the country. The band spent almost the entire period from 1985 to 1986 on a tour organized to support the work of Feel The Fire. A journey began in the USA. Then the musicians went to Europe.

Overkill recorded their first album, Power In Black, in 1984. The next work was released at the same time. It was called Overkill. Feel the Fire appeared in 1985. Immediately after the appearance of this work, the team conducted a tour to support it. The journey embraced both the US and Europe. In 1987, the album Taking Over appeared. This is the latest work, in which Rat Skates participated. The band released many more albums, including Fuck You, Horrorscope, WFO, Necroshine, Coverkill, Bloodletting, Killbox 13, Unholy, ReliXIV, Spitfire Records, Immortalis, Ironbound.
