North Korea. The flag, emblem and hymn of the last country of victorious socialism

North Korea in recent years has been heard around the world. But this fame is extremely negative. Aggressive clanking with nuclear weapons and numerous human rights violations, of course, cause fear. But behind all this political fuss, few people pay attention to the mentality that has developed in this country, which manifests itself, first of all, in state symbols - a hymn, a coat of arms and a flag.

Flag of the DPRK

North Korea, whose flag differs markedly from the symbols of other Asian states, appeared in 1948, after several years of anti-Japanese struggle and the subsequent political split. Unique circumstances led to the fact that traditional Korean values and new revolutionary ideals merged in it.

So, North Korea: the flag is made in proportions of 1: 2 (2 times the width) and consists of 5 longitudinal bands of red, blue and white. Located in the middle with a small displacement to the left along the length of the star symbolizes the revolutionary intentions of the country and, in fact, is a tribute to the Soviet Union. The last long time patronized the DPRK in all spheres.

The colors of the flag have the following meaning:

  • Red is the patriotism of the revolutionary masses and the desire for struggle.
  • White is the purity of ideals.
  • Blue - the call to unite with other revolutionary peoples for the further struggle for peace throughout the world.

It should be noted that the nearest neighbors - South and North Korea - have the flag in one color. Despite the revolutionary aspirations, the state did not depart from the traditional palette for South-East Asia.

DPRK coat of arms

This symbol was also adopted in 1948 and at first sight very similar to the sign of the USSR. Indeed, the coat of arms of North Korea and the patron state is akin to the red ribbon at the base and framing the sign of the ears. On this, in fact, the similarity ends.

The main parts of the symbol:

  • The coat of arms frame the ears of rice - a traditional Korean food product.
  • In the upper part there is a revolutionary red star, from which, as from the sun, rays come.
  • Below is a mountain of Paqdu, where according to legend from the heavens Hwangnung, the founder of the first Korean state, descended.
  • The center of the coat of arms talks about industrial power with signs in the form of an electric tower, a powerful hydroelectric power station and a dam.

Hymn of the DPRK

North Korea flag and coat of arms was almost 1 year later than was written its official national anthem. Solemn song, one of the co-authors of which became Pak Se Yun, consists of only 2 verses and does not call others to revolutionary accomplishments.

The hymn can be called very peaceful, because its main meaning is the story of the glory to which the Korean people are leading the country.
