After the death of his wife, Victor brought up his daughter Zhenya. They live in the provinces, and the daughter, unsurprisingly, dreams of a big city, true love. As it seems to her, she already has one of the components of a happy existence. Namely love. The beloved suggests moving to Moscow to build their own destiny independently, away from relatives. My father is absolutely against it. He does not believe in the sincerity of a potential son-in-law, nor in the prospect of moving to the capital. Victor has a lot of life experience, innate foresight. But he is too straightforward and categorical in his narrowing. And because he does not manage to dissuade the daughter from a frivolous act.

Zhenya is leaving. And soon there is one in a strange big city, abandoned by a lover. And, of course, waiting for the child. Appear in his native village, his father, with a "belly" and in the status of a loner, she can not. The girl sees only one way out of the situation - abortion. And here her life is changing again. She gets to see a successful and popular gynecologist Irina. She tries to keep the young provincial woman from the fateful step that she once committed herself. Left alone, the young Irina also had an abortion, and therefore she is now childless. Save a girl from repeating her destiny and raise a baby - in this she sees a ray of light in her lonely life, and an outlet for Zhenya, who is depressed.

Irina sheltered Zhenya, persuaded her not to have an abortion, and suggested that she keep her baby after birth. Zhenya, a little hesitant, agrees with Irina's arguments. Living in a doctor's house, communicating with her, the girl begins to experience truly childlike feelings. Irina surrounds her with a truly maternal concern. Meanwhile, before the father in the province, rumors of the pregnancy of the only and beloved daughter and that she intends to "sell the child to the doctor."
