Mark mascara for the eyelashes in the USSR: then and now

During the Soviet era, many women painted eyelashes with a mixture of petrolatum and tar, while the brand of mascara in the USSR already existed.

Unavailable beauty

And sometimes such mixtures even represented serious harm to health, because one of the components was a crumbled pencil lead. Why did the ladies go for such experiments? The fact is that for mere mortals cosmetics for a while was simply inaccessible. Just like cars, for example.

First, in the USSR, the means for dyeing eyelashes simply did not exist, because bourgeois novelties could not penetrate the territory of the country (they appeared here only in the 1960s, but even then they were intended only for the elite). A little later, Soviet mascara began to be produced specifically for actresses who are shooting in the movies.

Application Features

Now the process of staining eyelashes with such ink can seem ridiculous, but in those days every woman who managed to perform this "ritual" felt just a goddess. Almost any brand of mascara for the eyelashes in the USSR was a small brick in a cardboard box. To make up eyelashes, you had to moisten it. As a rule, the lady used her own saliva, which is not very hygienic.

Then came the turn of a special brush for staining - each brand of mascara in the USSR implied its presence. But it was so imperfect that the eyelashes were strongly sticking together. Because it was already customary for girls to be their subsequent division. Usually a normal needle was used for this procedure.

When mascara was used massively, it also happened that many managed to injure themselves by doing these manipulations. The brush itself was inconvenient also by the fact that in the gap between its teeth the material for dyeing the eyelashes was constantly stuffed. And even constant washing with water did not save her from the dried up mass.

After the transformation, in no case it was impossible to allow the dropping of even water droplets on the eyelashes - the ink immediately flowed, and the eyes immediately began to strongly pinch. Another of its drawbacks was flowability - "superficial beauty" really crumbles. Perhaps this is due to the fact that ladies who prefer it, dyed eyelashes, using too much money at once.

Always necessary

What brands of mascara were available from the USSR? There were not that many of them. The most popular was the "Leningrad" from the factory "Freedom". By the way, it existed not only in black, but also in blue. Nowadays its palette has been enriched with silvery and green shades. In the Soviet era there were also demanded such brands as "Evening" and "Terry".

And to this day, many believe that the brand of mascara for the eyelashes, invented in the USSR, for example, such as the "Leningrad", has a unique composition. The reason is that the remedy includes only natural ingredients. Women born in the Soviet era, called the effect of its application stunning.

There are ladies who continue to use eyelash stains only with such ink, because it continues to be produced in our time. Many believe that all the cosmetics of those times are exceptionally good (for example, the same "Ballet" foundation), and only get it.
