Manufacturing of wooden windows: production technology

A living room can not be imagined without a window, which is a conductor between the inner and outer spaces. These elements are made from different materials. And here's how to make wooden windows, and what sorts of them exist, read in the article.

Advantages of wooden windows

Windows of wood have a number of advantages in comparison with other materials from which they can be made:

  • They have an attractive appearance due to the structure of the wood. They perfectly harmonize with the wooden furniture and the doors installed in the room. They have a delicacy and high functional ability.
  • The windows "breathe". This ability is possessed only by wood. The tree regulates a healthy microclimate of the room, in which windows are installed from it. Excess moisture absorbs the wooden surface, with its lack - gives. Air constantly circulates, even with closed windows. Its renewal is due to micropores of the tree.

  • They have high durability, despite the vulnerability of fire or moisture. To improve the quality of wood, the manufacture of wooden windows is carried out using various impregnations and compounds that ensure their operation for a long time without losing their original appearance.
  • Meet a high level of strength. The quality of the tree from which it is planned to make wooden windows is estimated at purchase. The most common is a three-layer glued beam, the minimum thickness of which is seventy millimeters. Such a bar prevents deformation of the window and ensures its stability.
  • Have a low thermal conductivity due to the glued beam. Thermal conductivity in many respects depends on how much the rules of the technological process will be observed.
  • Environmentally friendly and safe. These conditions are met by wood - a natural material that does not emit harmful substances.
  • Easily repaired. The production of wooden windows is advantageously distinguished by a reduction in the cost of restoration, repair and maintenance.

Russian windows

They have one separate part with one box and two glazed doors. They are made from a pine massif with a leaf thickness of four centimeters. The main disadvantage is the deformation, since the shutters to the window are not completely adjacent. Moisture from the street penetrates into the room, the windows become misted, condensation accumulates on the windowsill.

Manufacturing of wooden windows is possible with double frames. They are equipped with unregulated hinges and handles, which is why there is no ventilation.

German windows

They are called European windows, as they are equipped with fittings from foreign manufacturers. These windows favorably differ from the Russians. They can be adjusted in height and angle of slope of the leaf, ventilate. They differ in the presence of locking mechanisms.

Finnish windows

They have a wide box and two doors that open in series. The outer leaf is made of wood or aluminum, it has one simple glass, and the inner one - with a single-chamber double-glazed window.

Both valves are interconnected. Open sequentially. Window boxes and sashes are made of a wooden massif.

Aluminum-wooden windows

To prolong the life of wooden windows are chipped with aluminum. The supporting part is also made of this metal, but only from the outside it is covered with a tree. The design becomes more durable, and thanks to the wood the appearance remains attractive. The production of wooden windows with the use of aluminum is not common because of the high cost of metal and the complexity of installation.

Eurowindows

They consist of a box along the opening of the window and doors with a double-glazed window of various types, preventing heat loss. They open easily, care is quite simple.

Wooden euro windows are made of laminated veneer lumber. Its thickness makes it possible to use a sealant, by means of which the room is reliably protected from drafts. Eurowindows are durable, the service life is sixty years and more. With such windows in the house is always warm.

Technology of manufacturing wooden windows

Accurate observance of the order of the performed works ensures the quality installation of windows. The sequence is as follows:

  • The glued beam is prepared. Wood is cleaned of bark, knots and cracks. The boards are sorted by colors, rocks, structure and other parameters. Then they are impregnated with a protective compound and dried in chambers to eight to twelve percent of natural moisture. After drying, spikes and microscopic grooves are cut to connect the components. The finished bar is sent to a well ventilated area for storage.
  • Frames are made of glued beams, consisting of laminated in three layers. The raw material is the wood of coniferous trees: larch, cedar, pine. Wooden windows, whose price is much higher, are made from valuable and more expensive types of wood: oak, eucalyptus. The shape of the frames depends on the configuration of the windows, which are standard, triangular, arched, trapezoidal.
  • The glued beam is cut depending on the given sizes and sent for the further work with it on the machine tool. Here, grooves and glazing beads are selected for the glass, so that they will not loosen. The accessories are thoroughly ground. This provides protection against ingress of moisture inside. Then they begin to complete the finished billets using the angled technology of the eurowindows.

  • Staining. This process takes place in a large bath with the addition of a primer solution, where the window is immersed. This is done repeatedly, but every coat of primer should dry. After that, the product is painted with a coating or coating composition of the desired color.
  • Installation of all kinds of fittings. Its installation is carried out using milling and drilling machines. Fittings import.
  • Glazing. For this work, the structure is laid on a horizontal surface. Install the double-glazed window, fasten with glazing beads using a pistol in which paddles are provided. Their ends on the surface are not visible, since they bite off, and then are ground. The seams are sealed with silicone. The price of wooden windows depends on the material of manufacture and the manufacturer. From pine they are cheaper than from larch and oak. Windows of foreign companies are more expensive than domestic ones. Approximately prices start from 35-40 thousand with installation.

Equipment for the production of wooden windows

Technical means are designed to perform certain operations for the production of windows. Obtaining high-quality structures is possible with non-stop and well-coordinated work of all machines, which according to their functional purpose are:

  • Circular saws and miter saws. With their help, pre-treatment of billets from wood is carried out.
  • The machine is crenellated. The manufacture of wooden windows on it is the most dangerous, since during operation the blades rotate at high speed, which do not have protective devices. On this machine, the workpieces are leveled and straight angles are made at the ends.
  • Thicknessing machine. Here, the workpieces are given a certain size. This is the safest unit, since all movable parts are protected by screens, casings or sheets.

  • The machine is milling. It is designed for processing blanks with knives rotating at high speed. Care is the main principle of work on this machine. Here, studs and lugs are made, which connect the window sashes, pattern and quarters, necessary for the installation of glass or glass blocks.
  • Vimes or clamps. Here the blanks are processed with glue compounds. After drying, the finished products are ground and prepared for painting using vibrating grinders.
