Making a presentation slide

When creating a bright and informative presentation, the user needs to know the basic steps, tools and effects for creating slides. Planning a presentation is a multi-step process, and the design of a slide is just one of its main stages.

The method of presenting information in a form convenient for perception, consisting of a set of slides, is called presentation. The main goal of the slide design is the interaction of modern computer tools with a multimedia image (computer animation, graphics, music, sound series) organized in a single environment.

How to use the basic computer tools and focus on important information sections, we will tell in the article.

Applying different themes to slides

To give an individual style, execute the slide design. Templates for processing electronic documents are selected to all or to selected slides.

A presentation template is a ready-made version that includes: the style of the electronic document, a set of font parameters, background images, the position of the frames, the layout of the placeholders, and the color schemes.

To use the design template for the entire document, select the Slide Design tab from the toolbar and from the thumbnail list that is necessary, and click on it. The appearance of the presentation will automatically change.

To apply the selected style to one slide, in the "Slide Design" window, open the context menu and select "Apply to Selected Slides" in the list of commands. The slide design program will automatically make changes to the selected object.

Algorithm for creating a presentation based on a template:

  1. Open the PowerPoint program. By default, the window opens a slide in the "Normal" mode, i.e. an empty title slide.
  2. Select "Create".
  3. In the "Create a slide" panel, select the "Installed template" and the presentation theme by clicking the "Create" button.

Application for color scheme design

The color design of the slide is changed by the user based on individual preferences and the purpose of the presentation. A color scheme (eight colors) is used to accent the background, fill, shadow, text blocks, hyperlinks. The default template contains a color scheme. If desired, it changes, for this purpose select the command "Design / Colors" or "Design / Create new theme colors".

The main recommendations when choosing a color scheme:

  • It is necessary that the color scheme is combined with the colors of text inscriptions;
  • For background, text and graphics use contrasting colors and no more than three: for background, title and text.

Change background style

After the chosen theme, you can change the texture or fill the background. Select on the taskbar "Design / Background Styles" or in the free area of the slide, call the context menu and click "Background Format". To make a background for a photo or drawing, choose "Background Format / Fill / Picture" or "Texture / Paste From / Select File" and click "Apply to All." The background style should not distract listeners from the speaker's information.

Texting

The slide design includes the addition of text information (headings, subtitles, plain text, bulleted and numbered lists), its editing and formatting.

To enter information into the placeholder, you need to click on the frame with the left mouse button and print the text. You can paste text from the clipboard if the text has been copied. To place text blocks anywhere in the slide, choose Insert / Caption.

When adding text information to graphic objects and applying the design (rotation, shadows, reflection and glow), select the "Caption" icon and add the text. It is preferable to use no more than three different fonts for a better perception.

To design a slide and highlight text fragments, you can add a WordArt object: the inscriptions in the presentation will become vivid and memorable. To do this, select Insert / WordArt.

Applying various effects to slides and objects

You can apply a video or sound effect to the slide to the slide. To do this, in the "Design" task pane, select the desired effect (fading and dissolving, stripes, shift and flow, appearance) and adjust the transition speed (fast, medium, slow). To apply the effect to all slides, use the "Apply to All" command.

To add an effect to presentation objects (figures, drawings, drawings, text, diagrams), right-click the object and choose the command "Animation Settings / Add Effect". However, one should take into account that animation effects should not distract from the perception of information and content of the presentation.

For the information presentation, 10-15 slides with laconic information, without catchy images, with animation effects that are sustained in a single style are enough.

The design of the slide is an important step for the presentation of information in a structured form using multimedia tools.
