M4 - road to the sea
Load of roads in Russia is growing rapidly. This is not surprising, because more and more people in the country, going on a trip, choose a car as a way to get to the place of rest. This is due to several reasons:
- Saving on the fare;
- Convenience of local travel during vacation;
- More comfortable travel conditions compared to a bus or train.
Well, the possibility of buying cars on credit makes them affordable for the majority. The M4 highway - the main road connecting the capital and south of Russia - is one of the leaders in terms of congestion in the summer. But vacationers do not stop, because there are no other alternative options to get to this region by car. The main line is Lipetskaya Street in Moscow, and the final point is Novorossiysk.
Route M4 - a bit of history
Part of the highway is laid along the existing road, built in the second half of the nineteenth century. The site from Kashira to Voronezh was reconstructed in the early 60's. When designing, it was assumed that the congestion of the route would be low, so only two lanes were provided. The road was called Route 5. It began in Moscow, passed through Voronezh and ended in Rostov-on-Don. Construction began in 1959 and was completed only eight years later.
After the collapse of the USSR , the M4 (Don) route was extended by a little less than 500 km due to the addition of new sections to it in the south. At the same time, it added to the list of highways of federal significance. The first paid section of the road in Russia was introduced in the territory of the Lipetsk region in 1998.
The load on the route clearly exceeded the figures calculated in the 1950s, and in the early 2000s a global reconstruction began on the track. To date, work is underway to improve the illumination of the mainline, paving the roads around settlements, dividing fences between lanes are being built.
The modern M4 highway is a road with a length of more than 1500 kilometers. Works on its modernization are, alas, not as fast as its construction in the 60's. Some plots have a high quality coating. They are allowed to develop a speed of up to 110 km / h, so it's quite comfortable to ride on them. But there are also problem areas described below.
Route M4 - difficult and dangerous places
The road changes with a change in the natural landscape. Somewhere it passes through the plain, in the south winds and has steep descents, rises and turns. The section of the highway in the territory of the Rostov region is considered the most difficult, since it is built in the mountains, it does not have a dividing strip. All this is combined with poor quality of the coating.
In winter, problems can arise due to bad weather - strong wind and snow. Particularly vulnerable segment is the road in the mountains of the Krasnodar Territory.
If we talk about the state of Russian roads in general, then this highway is not the worst. It is hoped that upon completion of the reconstruction, a trip through it will bear only positive emotions. Here it is - the M4. Reviews about it often frighten those who are going to go on a trip for the first time. Those who by virtue of vital circumstances travel here regularly, advise to spend the night in case of need in hotel and to continue a way with new forces. An additional advantage will be the presence of two drivers in the car, replacing each other at the wheel. In this case, the trip will not be tiresome at all.
