Liquid Castilian soap with their own hands: recipes, method of preparation

Real connoisseurs make Castilian soap for more than one hundred years. This recipe came to us from the coast of Spain, where all this time he practically did not change. At the heart of Castilian soap there are only three ingredients: water, alkali and natural olive oil. To this classical basis, you can add all kinds of additives, focusing on your own taste and skin features.

Main Ingredient

It is believed that olive oil is a unique product. Knowingly it is widely used in cosmetology for millennia. The inhabitants of the Mediterranean coast for centuries have been caring for the skin and hair with the help of olive oil.

Thanks to this component, Castilian soap can be used even when bathing babies. In addition, olive oil itself is a natural preservative, so the soap cooked on it is well kept and does not deteriorate very long. Classic Castilian soap is solid, cut into bars (or frozen in the forms of the right size). But you can cook and liquid.

The taste and color ...

Those who have already tried this soap, often disagree. To some, his foam seems creamy, tender, affectionate, and someone speaks of a slime-like unpleasant substance. This only says that everything needs to be tried in person, not being guided by someone else's opinion. Prepare Castilian soap with your own hands and try it on yourself - will it suddenly become your favorite?

If you look at the matter objectively, it is worth noting that such a homemade soap is really prone to soaking and stiffness. Solve the problem simply - store it in an open soap dish, which will allow the bar to ventilate. And if you give enough soap to ripen, the mucus will not form at all. The period of full aging is 6-8 months. But first things first.

As for liquid Castilian soap, this effect is not so noticeable. Its structure is cream-like, very delicate, pleasant to the touch. Of course, if you follow the rules, formulas and subtleties of the process when preparing.

Required inventory

The way to prepare a classic Castilian soap at home involves the use of some equipment. We need an accurate kitchen scale, a small mixer, a sieve, a measuring cup, gloves and a respirator. If possible, protect your eyes with glasses to avoid injury. Alkali - a thing quite aggressive, and when you use this substance, you can easily damage the skin and mucous membranes.

However, on the final result, the use of such an unfriendly component will not adversely affect it. During cooking, it is completely neutralized.

In addition, a wooden spatula and a couple of containers for a water bath are useful. We will take care in advance and about the necessary working space, so that nothing would interfere with the work.

Naturally, among other things, you need a gas burner or a conventional burner.

Necessary ingredients

It is important to follow a strict dosage. Especially if you are preparing Castilian soap for the first time. The recipe consists of such a set of ingredients:

  • Olive oil - 200 g;
  • Melted ice crumb (water with ice) - 95.2 g;
  • NaOH (alkali) - 23.7 g.

Those who have already mastered the technology, often add to the recipe palm and coconut oil (23.6 grams each). This gives the finished product an aroma, speeds up the aging process, makes the soap more dense.

The process of preparation of solid Castilian soap

To prepare a Castilian soap house from scratch with a hot method, we strictly measure the necessary amount of ingredients on the scales.

We prepare the alkaline solution: carefully put the alkali in a container with ice. Beginners should not be afraid of violent reaction - it should be so. Leave the solution to cool a little.

Olive oil poured into a large bowl. When the alkaline solution cools down a little, so that the temperature difference does not exceed 10 ° С, we will introduce it into the oil through a sieve (not vice versa!), And then carefully knead the solution with a spoon. After that, we connect the mixer and start whipping. Soon the mass will begin to reach for the mixer. This phenomenon is called a "steady trace" and says that everything goes as it should.

Now we send the soap to the water bath, covered with a lid. This is necessary to accelerate the passage of the gel phase, which, in turn, will accelerate the aging process.

In the process, it is necessary to check whether all alkali has come out. This can be done using a pH meter or strips of litmus paper. The pH level should be approximately 8.

We'll fill ourselves with patience, because the bath will last for several hours. When the mass goes into the state of the gel, we remove it from the fire. Now it remains to pour the liquid Castilian soap over the molds and carefully tap it from all sides so that the air bubbles come to the surface.

We leave the soap freeze. It will take from several hours to one day. The dried soap can be easily extracted from the molds, and if necessary, it is cut well into smaller bars.

Liquid Castilian Soap

The soap prepared by us can be used not only for its intended purpose, but also serve as a basis for other products. From it you can prepare a liquid soap, a dishwashing liquid and even a detergent.

To prepare a liquid Castilian soap, solid bars must first be melt. This process is quite simple. Three solid soap on a grater or thinly cut with a knife, add to the container and send it to a water bath. Every 10-15 minutes, mix with a mixer, allowing air bubbles to escape. When the soap acquires amber transparency, add hot water at a rate of 1: 1. Thoroughly mix, cover and leave for a day, so that both parts are fully connected. Store this soap conveniently in vials with a metering pump.

Additives for the classic recipe

There are many active additives with which you can diversify the classic recipe. The main thing is that their quantity does not exceed 12% of the volume of olive oil.

In the recipe you can add dried rosemary, goat milk, cream, ground coffee, salt, sugar, essential oils, crushed citrus peel, citric acid.
