Laying tiles on the wall - the main recommendations

It is possible without exaggeration to call a ceramic tile one of the most high-quality and accessible facing materials used today to decorate walls in rooms with high humidity. A variety of colors, textures, tile sizes, the presence of multiple decorative elements allow you to come up with a beautiful and unusual design, thanks to which the kitchen, bathroom or toilet will look very elegant and original. Laying tiles on the wall requires, of course, certain skills and accuracy, but the presence of a pair of skilled hands allows you to do this work yourself. The main thing is to approach the matter with full responsibility, make all necessary calculations, have patience and follow the generally accepted requirements for wall tiling with ceramic tiles.

Begins laying the tiles on the wall with a thorough preparation of the base surface. The wall under the facing with ceramic tiles must certainly be smooth, otherwise it is unlikely to achieve a positive result. Therefore, all the walls must first be leveled with plaster, which, by the way, will greatly facilitate the subsequent process of laying. True, some masters align the base directly with a tile adhesive composition, imposing a different amount on each tile and controlling the laying process with the help of a building level. However, such laying of tiles on the wall requires the presence of a certain experience and a large amount of adhesive solution, which is quite expensive. With certain experience and desire, the surface can also be leveled with moisture-resistant plasterboard, which will significantly speed up the process of its lining.

After performing the basic work, it's time to proceed directly to the lining. Laying tiles on the wall is unlikely to be beautiful and durable, if it is applied to a poor-quality or non-conforming type of lining material glue. Therefore, when choosing a glue composition, it is recommended to carefully read the manufacturer's recommendations and buy only the glue that is intended for the chosen type of tile and for its laying on walls, rather than on the floor.

Before starting work, it is necessary to carry out a thorough marking of the surface. Of course, the ideal can be considered the option, when the lining can be carried out without pruning. However, if it is impossible to lay an entire number of tiles on the wall, the work should begin from the most prominent angle. This is necessary in order for the cut pieces not to be so noticeable when entering the room. There is another way, which provides for the beginning of work from the central part of the wall, but you can use it only if the edges are sufficiently wide cuttings, so that the masonry will look symmetrical.

When laying ceramic tiles on the wall, it is most difficult to lay out exactly the first row, from which, in fact, it is necessary to "dance" further. Therefore, in order for the lining to pass qualitatively, usually on the wall, at the level of the second row, the metal or wooden bar is fixed horizontally. It is from this place and you should start facing, and the fixed bar will serve as a guide for the master and protect the tile from slipping down.

Laying tiles on the wall is carried out without fail using the building level, which allows you to monitor the correct location of each tile. In addition, the glutinous solution should be applied evenly, and in the gaps insert special crosses, thanks to which the seams are smooth and beautiful. The presence of voids under the tile is unacceptable.

In principle, the article gives only general recommendations. Laying tiles on the wall with your own hands is a long and laborious work, therefore, if necessary, on the Internet or printed sources, you can always find detailed step-by-step instructions that will help the home craftsman to cope with the task perfectly.
