History

Favorable natural conditions, mild and warm climate, abundance of water, fertile soils have made the territory of the region, including the area, attractive for settlement by people. BC Scythian tribes lived on the lands of the Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district, as evidenced by the ancient settlement in the area of the village of Khotovo.

At the beginning of the first millennium AD, the gradual settlement of the area by early Slavic tribes began. Here lived and the ancestors of Kiev Rus - glade. According to ancient annals, it was in this area that the legendary Belgorod was located, to which historians, in order to avoid confusion, gave the name of Belgorod-Kiev.

As scientists suppose, it was in Belgorod-Kiev that the residence of the Kiev princes was located, and the city was in charge of their heirs. But the Tatar-Mongol invasion, literally erasing from the face of the Earth not one settlement, did not spare Belgorod-Kiev. Nowadays in the territory of the legendary city there is a modern village of Belogorodka.

The history of Kyiv-Svyatoshinsky district is closely connected with the history of Kiev. The formation, prosperity and extinction of Kievan Rus, the invasions of Polish and Lithuanian invaders, the reunification with Russia with a bright page went through the history of the district.

Together with the city, the region survived the occupation by German troops in the First World War, the Revolution of 1917. Civil war, liberation from the Germans, complete devastation in the twenties have left no family in the region unaffected. The subsequent collectivization and industrialization of the 1930s, the excesses of the leadership, affected the population of the district, but also gave their positive results. Industry was revived, agriculture became one of the most advanced in the world.

The occupation of the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War, the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people in the fraternal peoples of the USSR with the fascists were recorded in gold in the pages of Ukrainian and world history.

Complete devastation and reconstruction in the post-war years, in which all the peoples of the country took part, the prosperity and formation of Ukraine in the USSR as one of the advanced republics in terms of living standards, industrial production, agriculture, science and education was reflected in the development of Kyiv Svyatoshinsky District.
