In the Krasnodar Territory there is a small picturesque village called Vannovka. It was in it that Kovalev Oleg Ivanovich was born. And it happened in the family of ordinary workers on September 7, 1948. At the end of the school the future governor went to serve in the army. And only after giving his duty to the fatherland, he began to think about plans for the future.

After a little thought, he decided to choose the profession of a builder for himself. Therefore, in 1969, Kovalev entered the Saratov assembly technical school, which he successfully graduated in 1971. The work of the installer was to the liking of the future politician, and so he went headlong into his trade.

Having finished his studies, Oleg Ivanovich Kovalev went to conquer the vast world. Thanks to his skills in 1971, he got a job at the Ministry of Construction and Construction of the USSR. The collapse of the Union meant one thing - it was time for great changes. That's why Kovalev accepted his appointment to the post of head of the Kashirsky district administration without too much hesitation. It should be noted that he coped with his duties quite well, because he knew perfectly well what problems exist in his area.

He liked politics. Therefore, in 1995 Kovalev Oleg Ivanovich is running for the State Duma deputies from the party "Our Home - Russia". At that time he was elected in the Kolomna District No. 106. However, due to tough competition, he was never able to obtain the required number of votes.

Nevertheless, in March 1996, he was elected to the post of head of the municipal formation of Kashirsky district. This again proves the fact that here Kovalev Oleg Ivanovich was a very respected person and earned the people's trust.

In December 1999, Oleg Kovalev again takes part in the elections. This time he represents the inter-regional political organization "Unity". As for the elections themselves, they were very successful, due to which he becomes a deputy of the State Duma of the third convocation.

In April 2001, Kovalev joined the inter-factional bloc "European Club". And in a month he is appointed to the post of deputy chairman on geopolitics. And in January 2002, Oleg Kovalev became chairman of the Committee for Regulations and Coordination of the State Duma.

In December 2003, he again wins the political race in elections and passes to the deputies of the "United Russia" faction. At the same time, Kovalev manages to retain his place as chairman in the Committee on State Duma Regulations. And in December 2007, the politician also successfully wins the pre-election race, thereby further strengthening the position of "United Russia".
