KAMAZ 4911 - the pride of the country

In Russia, a unique car was created - KAMAZ 4911. It's hard to imagine the weight of eleven tons and acceleration to hundreds in ten seconds, gaining a speed limit of up to 180 km / h.

Its operation can occur in the range from -30 to +50 degrees Celsius. Of course, this is the pride of the Russian car industry.

KAMAZ 4911 immediately gained popularity at home and earned international recognition. And this development of Russian designers saw the light in their homeland, in Naberezhnye Chelny.

This miracle looks like this: V-shaped eight-cylinder engine, which is produced at the Yaroslavl Machine-Building Plant (YaMZ), has a capacity of 17,000 cc. And a power of up to eight hundred horsepower. The basis for the creation of this engine is the serial SuperMase engine. Its acceleration is increased by two turbochargers produced by Borg Warner. Each cylinder corresponds to two outlet and two intake valves, there are thirty-two of them.

Even KAMAZ 4911 was equipped with hydropneumatic shock absorbers, which were used in army equipment for parachute landing of caterpillar vehicles. This also influenced the smoothness of the course and the immunity to off-road. The springs were also reinforced and became two meters long, so during the rally, neither the car nor the crew are harmed by jumping.

In this modification, the formula 4x4 is used, this miracle is accompanied by a sixteen-step mechanical ZF box complete with a Steyr distribution. There is a blocking of the differential between the axle, which allowed to increase the passability of the car several times. This development allows KAMAZ from 2003 to rise on the pedestal of the championship in almost all prestigious races of the world.

The supporting frame is made in a lightweight version, the inserts are made of composite materials, which increases the strength and rigidity of the frame structure. Fourteen leaf springs are located in the front and ten are installed at the rear. So the machine looks like it's created to win.

A special feature of the design is the rigidity of the cab fixing to the main frame and the strength of the crew's armchair connection to the cabin body. In this version of the design, the driver can fully experience all the nuances of the movement and react properly to changes in the situation. Safety cab provides a welded frame of pipes, which is attached inside the cabin.

It is worth saying that in the sport mode this monster consumes about a hundred liters for every hundred kilometers of run. But for victory it is, perhaps, a small loss. For the rally, the car is equipped with a dual fuel tank and holds 1000 liters.

KAMAZ 4911 extreme is the best representative of the Kamaz family.

This car has found application not only in rally, it is used for fast delivery of cargo in hard-to-reach places, it is applied also in the military industry.
