Jeans are rubbed between the legs: what to do with scuffs?

For many, jeans are an important element of the wardrobe. But no matter how much money you gave for them, sooner or later they will show signs of wear. Especially often jeans are rubbed between the legs. What can I do, do I immediately throw out such a pair? It is not necessary, because this trouble can be corrected and prolong the life of jeans for several months, or even years.

Know the enemy in person

It is much easier to monitor the condition of jeans than try to sew up rags on the loin. For example, look at the photo below.

There are two troubles here:

  • The seam begins to creep away.
  • Jeans are rubbed between the legs.

What to do with such problems? First, you need to fix a bad seam. Otherwise, you may be overtaken by a very awkward moment when your pants crack. This can be done manually or on a typewriter. Sewing shops sell special strong threads for sewing denim fabric, which are painted in popular colors for stitches on denim.

Secondly, you need to gently patch those areas where the thread is worn out. To do this, select the threads that not only match the color of the fabric, but have the same thickness.

Straighten the fabric and, necessarily fixing the stitches on even dense patches, start making horizontal stitches over the hole. Push the needle into the opposite edge of the rupture. Then make a vertical stitch down and only then go back. It is necessary that the threads do not cut and do not tighten the fabric.

After completing the horizontal row, start work on the vertical row, passing the needle between the threads. In fact, you will be weaving a new fabric over the old one.

Repair for visible damage

This method can be used for minor damage. For example, there is still no hole, but already jeans rubbed between the legs. What to do? You need to strengthen the tissue as soon as possible. To do this, you will need a strip of denim fabric, a glue for the fabric or a hot-melt tape ("spiderweb").

Close the area with a bad cloth tape, put a piece of denim on top and iron with a heated iron. Such a patch is invisible, completely merges with the base, the glue penetrates into the structure of the tissue and strengthens it. If you have a quality "spiderweb", then it will last a long time. The frequency of washing also affects its service life. Of course, if you patch the area of the lacquer in addition, it will stick as long as you wear these jeans.

If you're lucky, you'll be able to find ready-made trays in sewing shops. They have one side of the denim fabric, the second - from hot melt. They are attached to the fabric, too, using an iron.

But this method has a drawback - the patches should be small, as the tissue becomes firmer, worse crumpled and can cause discomfort if such a site takes up a large area.

Jeans rubbed between their legs. What to do?

The photo presented below reflects the picture familiar to many.

It would seem that this pair can be safely sent to the trash. What if the jeans between the legs were rubbed, how to sew large holes imperceptibly and accurately?

There are two ways:

  • Machine darn. Manually this will be a long and painstaking process, while a special device darns such a hole in 5 minutes. See the photos before and after.

The machine literally recreated the structure of the fabric and strengthened the edges of the hole.

Of course, you have to go to the sewing studio, and the sooner the better the repair.

  • Applying the patches from the fabric. This is a more budgetary method, because you can deal with it yourself (if you have a typewriter) or ask your friends.

How to sew a patch

So, your jeans rubbed between your legs. What if the hole is large?

1. Cut the protruding threads along the edges, without touching the fabric itself.

2. Turn the jeans inside out and circle the hole, retreating from the edge of 2.5 cm. Ideally, the edge of the hole should be treated with an overlock, but then the patch will be more noticeable.

3. Cut the "spider" or glue fleece in the desired area. Also apply with a denim cloth for repair. It is better to cut it diagonally from the interweaving of threads. So the fabric will not crumble and creep. Or use ready-made patches.

4. Glue the fleece and denim to the hole with the help of the already heated iron. Lightly strip off the patch, pay special attention to its edges. Wait until this area cools down.

5. Then sew the edges of the patch on the sewing machine. Turn out the jeans and on the front side, stitch the new fabric diagonally. The zigzag seam is perfect for this purpose.

6. Hide the tips of the thread and the repair is complete.

If you notice that the junction of the joints between the legs has become worn, cover it with a patch, as shown in the following photo.

What should I do not to rub my jeans between my legs?

Often the problem is easier to prevent than to solve. Protect your favorite jeans from unhappy fate, take care of them and wear them correctly to avoid premature wear on the inner surface of the leg.

If the jeans are too tight or, conversely, too loose in the hips, then this leads to excessive friction, and in the future - to the holes. Also, the lower the landing, the greater the burden on the tissue in the region of the hips and the more often jeans are wiped between the legs. What to do to avoid this annoying phenomenon? Buy models that fit your size and fit well. Of course, denim stretches, but everything has its limits, so sensibly estimate your real size. Also, make sure that there is no factory fault or abrasions on the pair that you are going to buy.

Proper washing

If you do not read the label with recommendations for care, then you do not need to complain that the jeans frayed between your legs. What can I do to make the denim successfully survive the purge?

Turn the jeans inside out and wash them separately or with two or three pairs of jeans. You do not need to resort to this procedure unnecessarily. But it's also not worth neglecting (not only because of obvious factors), because particles of dirt and dust act as small abrasives in the course of movement, wiggle the threads of the fabric.

Wash jeans in a delicate mode with cold or warm water, avoid using hot water or bleach, which weakens the denim fabric.

Machine drying also leads to the fact that the jeans are rubbed between the legs. What should I do to minimize harm after washing? Instead of throwing your pants into the dryer, it's better to hang them in the bathroom or on the balcony in the old fashioned way and wait patiently until they dry out.

Now you know what to do, so that jeans are not wiped between the legs, and will be able to significantly extend their life.

Sports and denim

Bicycle - the worst enemy of jeans. Frequent and monotonous movements up and down, while accompanied by friction on the edge of the saddle, destroy the tissue very quickly. Therefore, cyclists constantly wear jeans between their legs. What to do in this case? If you regularly ride in jeans, then you have to put up with the future holes and immediately put the latches on the problem areas. And it's even better to get a pair of pants designed for cycling. And it can also be jeans, but specially made for such exploitation, for example, Levi's 505 Commuter or Cadence Raw Denim Jeans. They have a double or compacted fabric on the seat.

Nothing is eternal

If the jeans are rubbed between your legs, what to do with them - you already know. But the moment will come when they will have to be thrown away, no matter how hard you try to put it off.

True, the Dutchman Ari Vandenberg for 8 years socks lovingly darned and patched his jeans from Levi's.

After that, they not only completely lost their resemblance to the original, but even attracted the attention of fashion magazines and won the competition from the famous clothing store in Amsterdam. And for Ari they became, to some extent, the embodiment of part of his life path. A suitable role for real jeans, is not it?
