Igor Severyanin: Biography and Creativity

Igor Severyanin, whose poetry today is known to many fans of poetry - a famous Russian poet of the early twentieth century. He repeatedly stated about his genius. The same fact was confirmed by many critics. And one of them - this and Valery Bryusov is a talented creator, without whose evaluation no literary destiny could take place.

Creativity to which Igor Severyanin devoted his whole life, the author's biography and his recognition in literary circles begin long before the appearance of the scandalous poem "I am a genius". But despite the fact that this work was written in 1912, it became the business card of the author.

Childhood of Igor Vasilyevich

In fact, the Severyanin is a literary pseudonym. In one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seventh year in St. Petersburg, Igor Vasilyevich Lotarev appeared. His childhood passed in this delightful city. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the theme of St. Petersburg will take such a huge place in the poet's work.

Igor's mother came from a noble family, and his father was, as they said, from the middle class. But there was nothing pejorative about this. Because the boy's dad achieved great fame. He became a staff captain. But unfortunately, my parents broke up. And all the further years Igor Vasilevich lived in the Novgorod province in the Cherepovets district. The future poet lived on the estate of his father's sister.

Famous relatives of Severyanin-Lotarev

Until the end has not yet been studied on a documentary basis, what was the little Severyanin, the biography of his early childhood contains so many gaps. But for the poet it was very important that on the maternal line he was associated with the family of the famous Fet and was a distant relative of the famous historian, author of the History of the Russian State, Nikolai Karamzin.

In Novgorod province Igor graduated from four classes of the school. And the reader should not be embarrassed, because at that time there was a completely different education system. And besides, he, like many children of that historical period, received a wonderful family home education.

And of course, Igor Vasilyevich Severyanin, whose biography begins with the name of Lotarev, was a very educated man. He knew the Russian world culture perfectly, and not by chance often relied on his predecessors.

Traveling around the home country and the beginning of creativity

Then Igor Severyanin (a brief biography of that period has been little studied, so only certain facts are known) travels with his father across Russia and travels to the Far East, where he remains for several years. And in the year 1914 he returned to his mother. It is there that he will meet many future famous poets, writers, cultural figures.

And then a book will appear that will "sound" very loudly. The Severyanin himself will call his early editions - brochures. The first was inspired by the events of the Russo-Japanese War of 1914. And almost no one noticed the debut of the poet, because this is a kind of pre-creative period. Igor Vasilievich often rushed with the release of his poems and books.

The appearance of an alias or a big name

But it is worth paying attention - this was the year, about which Bryusov once wrote that he was a turning point for the fate of Russian symbolism. This is either a victory or a defeat. A new era has begun in Russian literature and poetry.

Lotarev, or the future Igor Severyanin, whose biography developed in such a way that as a poet he appeared at the same time, he would become really famous much later. But it was at this time that his literary pseudonym appeared. At first it was Igor-Severyanin, that is, through a hyphen, and a little later this sign will disappear and a big name will remain.

Biography of the Severian. Interesting facts about the poet's work

The most famous book will be "Thunderous Cup", but the glory came to the poet before this publication. Many Russian Symbolists at that time already knew what methods exist to achieve glory. And often it was a literary scandal. The same thing happened with Igor Vasilievich.

One of the poems, which begins like this: "Poke a corkscrew into the elasticity of the cork ...", was read in Tolstoy's house in Yasnaya Polyana. It was a common aristocratic life - reading aloud books. The entire Severyanin's brochure caused an unusual revival, but this work produced a real sensation. Everyone laughed at the unusual moves of the poet's new poetry.

But unexpectedly Lev Nikolaevich got angry and said: "Around the gallows, murders, funerals, and they have a corkscrew in a traffic jam." Soon these words were replicated in many newspapers. So gained fame Igor Severyanin. Biography and creativity of his became popular already literally the next morning.

The true popularity of the author and the most famous book

But the real glory came after the publication of the book "Thunder Cup". The name of Severyanin was associated with a new direction in Russian poetry. Shortly before that, Futurism appeared in Europe, which was associated with Marinetti, an Italian poet and theoretician.

And Igor Vasilievich was the first in Russia, who called himself a futurist. In the year 1912 the direction of ego-futurism developed, and at its head stood the Severyanin. Then he will depart from his fellows.

The search for a creative circle

While Igor Vasilievich was young, he was looking for literary allies, like any novice poet. That is gaining quite the boys in the group of futurists, then goes under the wing of the venerable Fedor Sologub, even trying to establish contacts with Gumilev. But the easiest way was with the cubo-futurists. They invited Igor Severyanin with him on tour, and despite the fact that their roads subsequently separated, the cooperation was very fruitful.

In the poetry of Igor Vasilievich was a lot of traditional. No matter how futurists dreamed of creating their own poetry, nevertheless, in literature, always this creativity intersects with the past. The names of many poets of the classics became an important component in the author's work. It is no coincidence that Igor Severyanin, whose biography is such that he met many famous people in his childhood years, devoted so many poems to Pushkin, Fet, Tyutchev.

The cycle of works about the greatest creators

In the twenties Igor Vasilievich wrote a whole cycle of works under significant names. "Lermontov", "Tolstoy", "Tyutchev" and so on. Severyanin uses quotations from Russian classical poetry in his works in order to bring the Russian reader back to them. To revive the traditions of Russian poetry.

But at the same time in the poems of Igor Vasilievich there was much new. After all, it was no coincidence that he declared himself as a poet who changed the course of Russian literature and poetry. He was an innovator in the field of poetic language, was engaged in word-making, introduced many new words into Russian literature.

The Severyanin was so multi-faceted. The biography is short and has not been fully studied yet, but undoubtedly, this person made a huge contribution to the history of Russian creativity, and his works have become another invaluable source for readers.

Victory in the contest or "I am the king"

A sufficiently large place in the poetry of Severyanin was occupied by the theme of the city. And the search for new poetic forms of Igor Vasilyevich were closely related to urban realities. He was ahead of his time, striving for unusual, for something exotic.

Throughout his life Severyanin released a huge number of books that were published in large editions, which primarily meant the author's confession. He created his own unusual poetics. It is no accident that in one of the poems, which is called "The Dreamland", he recreated his poetic world so: "I am the king of the country that does not exist ...".

In the year 1918 Igor Vasilievich took part in the competition and was even elected the king of poets, surpassing the number of votes of Mayakovsky and Balmont. Severyanin travels all over Russia and collects huge halls, many readers come to his speeches, because Igor Severyanin's poetry corresponded to the needs of his contemporaries.

Quite a lot of the author's works were very serious, and the Severyanin himself, whose biography is even more, and many of the trials that fell to his lot, together with a whole people experienced the greatest events and upheavals of the era. And so will his fate, that he does not emigrate, but after the conclusion of the Brest peace will be abroad.

Even before the revolution, he settled in a summer cottage in Estonia, which became a new state. And there, cut off from Russia, Igor Vasilyevich Severyanin will continue to create and create a kind of epic lyrics that reflect the life of a person, suffering and ideas about happiness. And in Russian poetry, he remained as the author of no one like him, and his work became dear to many readers.
