Hydroabrasive cutting of stone - accuracy and purity of result

The processing technique - water jet cutting is based on the use of a thin water jet supplied under high pressure. In the first variant, patented in 1947 by a Soviet engineer, water was fed to the processed material in its pure form. The key factor in achieving the necessary result was enormous pressure (several thousand atmospheres). Adding granite sand to the water, along with a significant improvement in cutting parameters, allowed to reduce the pressure of the jet and thereby simplify the functional design of the processing equipment. The technology of hydro-cutting with the use of abrasive particles, invented by the employee of the company Flow, was called Waterjet. Since 1979, waterjet cutting has been gradually mastered by various industries, including where the processing of natural stone takes place. Waterjet effectively processes (applies ornaments and patterns, cuts) almost all materials used in construction and in the production of various products. If we are talking about flammable raw materials, then waterjet cutting in a number of cases is the only possible way to perform the necessary treatment.

Waterjet for decoration

In the construction of hydraulic cutting stone is most in demand. For indoor and outdoor decor, products from natural stone are widely used. Products from granite and marble in the conditions of constant development of design concepts acquire more and more artistic originality. Before the advent of hydroabrasive cutting, the existing methods of processing restrained the design fantasy, not allowing the realization in the natural stone of complex curvilinear forms, patterns and ornaments.

Waterjet cutting guarantees the safety of the material being processed. This is the essential difference between the Waterjet technology and the mechanical and "beam" processing. Cutting by rotation has high risks for the formation of chips. Laser or plasma cutting can "burn" the stone, which is associated with the formation of shallow (torn edges) and complex defects (cracks). The finest jet of water with abrasive particles can quickly and efficiently cut granite and marble. The diameter of the point action varies from 0.5 to 1.5 millimeters. A dense stone can be processed like oil. Create ornate ornaments and intricate designs. Clean cut is impressive! This is a high-tech art.

Advantages of Waterjet:

- This technology allows processing of natural or artificial raw materials.
- Waterjet cutting provides a clean result, without scratches, cracks and chips.
- Due to the thin cutting line, the material consumption is reduced.
- Water during processing extinguishes the heat created by the friction of abrasive particles. -The structure of the stone remains unchanged.
- Hydro-cutting stone allows you to obtain an ideal edge. The additional processing is not needed.
- With Waterjet it is possible to embody in a material any sharp corners. Creation of circles and other geometric shapes provides an ideal result. Often, only with the help of waterjet cutting can create a particularly complex decorative pattern.
- Processing of any massive stone slabs is allowed. The depth of penetration is from 0.1 to 300 millimeters (if necessary, it can be deeper).
- To implement a highly complex contour, you can proceed at any starting point.
- Hydro-cut stone is suitable for restoration work.

Panel made of natural stone by the method of hydraulic cutting

Designers and masters of natural stone processing have appreciated the possibilities of hydroabrasive cutting with reference to the creation of complex volume and type-setting products. In the mosaic panels between the composite elements, it is realistic to achieve minimal joints. And in large volume logos, intricate local cuts are allowed.

With the advent of water jet cutting it became possible to combine various natural materials. Artists and designers can now embody bold, scale compositions, formed by various drawings, textures, color content. The panel of stone will add to the atmosphere of any room exceptional splendor. Houses, apartments, offices, art studios, salons, public institutions will be transformed!
