How to sow onions? Landing for the winter: how difficult is it?

Onion is one of the condiments that are used in our country throughout this century. Along with horseradish and radish, he is the favorite vegetable of Russian traditional cuisine. It is not surprising that the onion-sowing, the landing for the winter of which we will be considered, enjoys a stable demand among the population.

Why do we recommend planting sowok just for the winter? The fact is that with the standard size of bulbs (about a centimeter) until the spring, they are not preserved, trite turning into such "dried fruits". If you want to keep your onion, planting for the winter is the only sensible solution.

Preparation of beds

Note that this plant likes good lighting, so in the shadow of the fence it is not necessary to plant it. It is better to make a bed with a width of about a meter, above the ground, it should be given at least 20-25 cm. The soil should be shaken as thoroughly as possible, releasing the weeds and pupae of insects from the rhizomes. The fact is that the onion-sowing, the planting of which we consider to be winter, is a frequent and desirable addition to the diet of many pests, so it is not worth the risk.

After this, make a solution of copper sulfate, taking one tablespoon of the active substance per bucket of water (ten liters). Then the resulting mixture disinfects the soil, spending two liters of the mixture per square meter of the bed. About five kilograms of quality humus is added to this area, as much peat, "saturating" all this with a couple of spoons of superphosphate.

The ground is dug to the depth of the bayonet bayonet. After this, it is necessary to accurately level the surface of the soil and make grooves with a depth of about five centimeters, located at a distance of 15 cm from each other. After this, the onions are laid in the furrows. Landing for the winter suggests that the distance between the bulbs should be within four to five centimeters.

When to plant?

The best for boarding is considered the middle of October. To protect bulbs from freezing, they are mulched with a layer of deciduous sawdust, and the thickness of the layer should be at least two to three centimeters.

In spring, when the weather is stable, the mound is raked to the side. Since onion-sowing, the planting in autumn which is the most common, easily freezes, in the winter try to throw a lot of snow on the bed. In the spring, it must be quickly removed, as the bulbs from the excess water rot.

If you did everything correctly, plantings give amicable and dense shoots. In the case when all bulbs have risen (remember about a distance of four centimeters?), They need to be thinned out. Accurately following the agrotechnics, in the end of July you can appear the owner of perfectly ripening bulbs. Such products are perfectly preserved in winter and almost do not rot.

Thus, planting onion-sowing for the winter is a wonderful way to get a lot of excellent onions, which is stored for a long time, has high taste qualities and is completely natural.

It is ideal for both fresh and prepared home preparations. You will not regret the efforts that have been spent to grow it!
