How to make lampshades for table lamps with your own hands

It happens that I want to update the interior so much, but I do not know where to start. Sometimes you just need to change the lighting. But buying a new lamp is expensive, and in some cases it is not even required. We suggest that you consider several master classes on how to update the lampshade lampshade with your own hands.

What you need to create lampshades

  1. Prepare the card. You can buy it in the store, print it out, or it can be special sheets for decoupage.
  2. Mark the required width on the map and cut out the rectangle. If you do not have enough to wrap it around the lampshade, add one more piece.
  3. Dilute PVA glue in a small amount of water.
  4. Cover the card from the back with glue and gently glue it to the lampshade. Fingers smooth out the pimples, if such appear.
  5. Wait for the card to dry completely.
  6. Cut off excess pieces of paper.
  7. Preheat the glue gun and use it to glue the tape along the edge of the shade at the top and bottom.

Book sheets as decor

  1. Put a small drop of glue just above the base of the lampshade (about one centimeter from the edge).
  2. Glue one end of the yarn to the drop. Choose the one whose shade is darker.
  3. Wind the shade of the yarn, trying to make each new row fit tightly to the previous one.
  4. Wrap a certain height in one color. The last coils should not fit tightly to each other, but be at different distances, slightly chaotic to cover the lamp shade (picture 1).
  5. Glue the yarn of another shade with a glue gun. The new color should be at the level of the old one (picture 2).
  6. Wind the yarn around the shade, while you will succeed in suppressing two colors in some rows. It is necessary that the shades have a smooth transition and the striped pattern does not come out.
  7. When you wind the required level of yarn of the second color, make several free turns (picture 3).
  8. Wrap the third color of the yarn, not forgetting to paste the tip.
  9. Finish the windshield of the lampshade. For this, the third yarn should go in dense rows to the edge of the lampshade, and glue the end (picture 4).
  10. Flip the lampshade and warp the yarn through.

A warm shade is ready!

Lamp Shade with Roses

You will need to take such tools and materials:

  • shade;
  • cardboard;
  • Pieces of cloth;
  • Green yarn;
  • tape;
  • Glue gun;
  • scissors;
  • pencil.

  1. Draw the floral leaves on the cardboard, and then cut them out (picture 1).
  2. Glue green yarn to the edge with a glue gun (picture 2).
  3. Tightly wrap the yarn around the leaf (Figure 3).
  4. Glue the tip of the thread and make a few more leaves in the same way (picture 4).
  5. Cut off from the fabric a few stripes with a thickness of about one to two centimeters (Figure 4).
  6. Fold one strip in half, dripping a little glue inward along the entire length (picture 5).
  7. Tightly twist the strip, sometimes dripping the glue on the edge so that it does not disconnect (Figures 6 and 7).
  8. Spread a little edge of the shape, and you will get a rose (picture 8).
  9. Make similarly several roses, different in size.
  10. Gently glue the roses on the lamp shade (picture 9).
  11. Do not forget to stick the leaves under some roses.

Volumetric lampshade is ready!

New shade with ombre effect

To make a smooth and beautiful transition of one color to another, you need a suitable coating. To do this, it is recommended to make a lampshade with your own hands.
You will need:

  • Frame lampshade;
  • Cotton plain fabric (preferably white, beige or light gray);
  • A small bath or basin;
  • Paint (watercolor, hair, fabric, gouache and any other liquid);
  • Glue gun.

  1. Take the frame of the shade and the cloth.
  2. Turn on the glue gun.
  3. Wrap around the lampshade cloth and gently glue the edges. Cut off the excess sheet.
  4. Top and bottom edges wrap in a lampshade and glue them with a glue gun.
  5. Fill a basin or a bath with half water and dilute the paint in it.
  6. Lower the lampshade not completely into the tub and pull it out from there.
  7. Do this procedure several times, gradually reducing the height of the dipping. Thus, the paint will be absorbed at different levels, creating a smooth transition of shades of the same color.
  8. Hang the lampshade in the bathroom and allow it to dry.

All is ready!

How to make a lampshade from scratch

The previous master class told how to update a boring or outdated lampshade. And what if there is nothing to work with and there is not even a skeleton? Then you can easily make a lamp shade with your own hands.

For this you need to take:

  • the cloth;
  • Painting Scotch tape ;
  • A large ruler and a centimeter;
  • a piece of chalk;
  • pencil;
  • scissors;
  • Plastic sheet (can be found in construction shops or among goods for needlework);
  • Wire rings;
  • Large clips-clothespins;
  • Adhesive PVA or double-sided adhesive tape ;
  • Glue gun;
  • A special splitter for lamps (sold in lighting stores).

Operating procedure

  1. Take a centimeter and measure the diameter of your wire rings. This will be the diameter of the lampshade.
  2. Put on the table a plastic sheet and measure on it the length and width of the future shade
  3. Cut the marked rectangle.
  4. Unfold the cloth on the table with the wrong side.
  5. Fix the edges of the fabric with paint tape so that it does not move.
  6. Cover the plastic rectangle with a layer of PVA glue or double-sided adhesive tape.
  7. Carefully attach the rectangle with a sticky side to the fabric.
  8. Press the fabric against the sheet and level it.
  9. Cut off excess fabric.
  10. Twist the canvas.
  11. Glue the canvas with an adhesive gun.
  12. Combine the seam with clip-pins and place the item on the table.
  13. From above on the seam, put the load so that it does not get unstuck.
  14. Wait for the part to dry.
  15. Place the parts inside and on the top along the ring.
  16. Attach a special splitter to the upper ring.
  17. Glue the rings with a glue gun.
  18. Attach clippings to the edges so that the rings get stuck. Leave the part for a while.
  19. Glue tape on the top and bottom of the lampshade, half of which wrap in.
  20. Cut off a strip of fabric, tuck off its edges and glue it on the seam.
  21. Cut two more strips of fabric, also rotate the edges and glue them to the top and bottom of the lampshade.
  22. Wait for all the elements to dry.

A completely new lampshade is ready!
