How to build a staircase to the second floor

Obeying the trends of the times, many began to build their own country houses. One of the elements of the construction of any building is the interstorey staircase. Of course, it must be strong and easy to move. Therefore, many homeowners have a question about how to build a ladder to the second floor correctly. After all, how reliable it will be, depends on the security of both the owner of the house and his family members.

Most often in small buildings, ordinary marching wooden staircases are used. To make this necessary element of an interior practically any person can force. Before starting to deal with the actual question "How to build a ladder to the second floor?", We will understand with its construction.

Any march staircase consists of oblique lines, on which all the elements of the risers and treads are held. A tread is called a horizontal plane, on which the foot rests when climbing the stairs. The riser is the vertical part of the step. Often, the latter are not an essential element.

For mounting, you need two boards of 50-70 mm (better pine or oak) for oblique. Their width should be such that it is enough for the device to cut under the steps. Most often it is about 30 cm. The thickness of the boards for the treads is calculated based on the width of the march. The ratio in this case should be 1 to 20.

In order for the climb to be as convenient as possible in the future, it is necessary to calculate the stairs to the second floor. Taking the height of the riser for k, and the width of the tread for s, we obtain the following formulas:

  • Safety: s + k = 46 cm;
  • Step: 2k + s = 62 cm;
  • Convenience: s - k = 12 cm.

That is, for example, to make a ladder safe for movement with a tread width of 31 cm, for a riser you need to take a board with a width of 46-31 = 15 cm.

Continuing to consider the question "How to build a ladder to the second floor?", Determine the place where it will be located. At the same time, remember that its top and bottom should be supported by bearing beams. In order to fix the kosour on the beam, it is necessary to make either in both elements, or in one of the blanks of the corresponding dimensions. The treads and risers are attached to the oblique carving screws in such a way that the hats come out to the working part of the march.

When deciding how to build a staircase to the second floor, pay special attention to the reliability of Kosovars. The cuts under the steps in them can not be made too deep, since this will greatly weaken the structure. If the staircase is very wide, not two but three Kosovars are used. The distance between them is determined on the basis of their thickness and width of the march. The thickness of the tread board is also taken into account. When moving, the steps should not bend.

When arranging the second floor with your own hands, do not forget to immediately determine where the staircase leading to it will be located and leave the gap in the overlap corresponding to the expected width of the march.

So, we have examined in general terms how one can make the most simple ladder. As you can see, it is not at all difficult to mount it yourself.
